Seek Out and Value Diversity

One of the things that can help us in our online endeavors is to seek out people that are different from us, that see and look at things from a different perspective, as opposed to folks that agree with us and our viewpoints.

The latter can become a limiting factor.

Our usual life journeys can be self-limiting, it takes the ability to observe what is actually happening and the developed ability to move beyond our personal views and assumptions, to create something special. We can run the risk of being trapped in sameness without actually realizing that this is the outcome that is developing.

Celebrating diversity can be a really empowering, adding the values that difference brings can be a game elevator. Add new views and assumptions to your toolbox and you may well find that the intensity of your game improves to a new level.

There are so many opportunities to leverage our position by developing a blended ideas base. Many of us are naturally drawn to our comfort zones it is a natural inclination. So step out of your skin and experience your world from a set of different perspectives.

In doing so we can reconnect with the things that fire us up and the passion that drives us, the online journey is one that is shared, it is a shared experience between the folks that we connect with, between author and reader, the message creator and the message receiver.

Creating better outcomes for the folks that we engage with or that surround us is and always has been one of the things that is very hard to beat in our human experience, both in our normal living lives and our business lives.

One of the best ways to create those outcomes is to remain open to new ideas and initiatives and to blend them with our own. Search them out view them with open eyes, that saying springs to mind;

" Looking without seeing, your cup is to full to take on board anything new, so nothing changes, it is your status quo"

Cultivating the ability to remain open to new things, ideas, experiences and to do this across the board from the technical aspects to values, beliefs, and the range of emotional feelings that we all experience, can really enhance your life and business possibilities and outcomes.

One of the best things we can do is to see past our limitations and like someone famous said,

"A weakness is only a strength that we haven't developed as yet, the opportunities online are limitless."

Time to climb into the driver's seat and take your online presence for a blast.

Yes..Stepping outside our comfort zone is when the learning begins...what better place than here at WA...diversity is everywhere..from the training to the members. Thanks, Alex.
Debbie

Membership of WA brings so many opportunities for sure, extending our limits can be top of the pops, thank you for your comment Debbie.

Yes, Alex the diversity here at WA is huge, virtually members represent each country/race. I agree with you the opportunities online is vast, that is why some of us are persevering to grab our share.

Wel said Lanu, one of the motivating factors can be striving to create our share of the internet pie. We are traveling in some very good company here in WA, and it is so true there is such a diversity, blessed to be able to immerse. thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Well said Alex, and we have a great training ground and opportunity here at WA to practice this considering how diverse the membership is. ~Mark

thank you for sharing your thoughts Mark, we are a diverse lot here in WA, a real melting pot of ideas, which all help us to add to our own personal recipes.

For sure. Agreed.

Social media and online marketing has not been good for our breadth of experience and exposure to interesting and useful ideas.

Online marketing algorithms have followed a dumb trajectory of offering people more of whatever they were last looking at. *Do you like chocolate? I heard you like chocolate. You were just looking at chocolate pages, can we retarget you for chocolate gifts? Hey - look at this picture of chocolate! Here are other people who like chocolate - would you like to be friends with them? Hey... we heard that people who like Chocolate also like these other things...*

Argh.

I pride myself on having broad, eclectic, well-cultivated tastes. This didn't happen as a result of my own virtuous choices, but through my exposure to many different, wonderful people. So much serendipitous discovery. Other people are to thank for so much. I haven't had one type of job my whole life; I haven't studied only one thing. Each experience and interaction presented new kinds of people and ideas.

I am fortunate I live in a time and place in history when this is possible.

But were I to leave the choice of these adventures up to online algorithms, I'd have had none of them. None at all.

This all makes me recall a snippet of a TED talk I once heard, in which the female presenter said that: the relationships which have the the greatest capacity to influence your life for the better, and to open new doors will not be in your immediate circle of friends.

They will be out on the very periphery of your network.

So... what are we all doing to break out of our shells to discover these outer networks? Where are you going tomorrow? Will you make friends with the so-called weirdos? Will you try hard to listen to or read something that's way over your head? Will you try a new food?

Thanks for a thought-provoking post!

Hi Ivy,
Thank you for your response and for sharing your insights. So true it is difficult to navigate the nuances of online marketing algorithms when we can see what is happening it becomes an easier road to travel.
We are the sum of our experiences, and the most glowing and memorable indeed come from our interactions with the people we meet and associate with. I have to agree we learn more from the peripheral than the constraints of our everyday interactions.
That flow can really enhance our lives, the trajectory for living a fulfilled life is directly related to our ability to keep that open mind and push the boundaries of our experiences.
Every day brings new opportunities to explore, learn, grow and develop. Meeting life and business with that air of expectation and anticipation makes for a purposeful and happy life.

An excellent thought provoking post. Thank you for reminding me to live beyond myself.

Hi Tania thank you for your response, really like how you expressed that, by living beyond our selves, we can create something special and continue to grow and develop thank you for that insight.

So true. I love the concepts of diversity and inclusion, and exploring how we can ensure our online works reflects this.

The two go hand in hand combined they can help us all achieve our best work. Having that focus can really help us to expand our horizons.

Great reminder Alex, I like how you emphasise the creator and the receiver with connections. The writer and the consumer. Creating material that is beneficial to the receiver is for sure the task.

Thanks
Erica :)

In the perfect scenario each creates that balance, so each is enriched a definite work in progress something to have on our radars and in our focus, it does bring benefits to both parties. Thank you for your comment Erica, it has got me thinking, much appreciated.

I did some study in a business module and there was a module on diversity in the workplace and the exam was how to assimilate a good and efficient workplace while considering how to factor in the diversity of humans.

I found it was a challenge to create a harmonious and yet efficient workplace scenario because there is much in vocabulary and body language that can be discriminating to one individual and so forth and not to another. Or even values and ethics.

But I believe it is possible when the common goal of the workplace is given strength and then each individual wants to build a common integrity to achieve the goal.

That's some of the many reasons I like WA because it allows exactly what you suggest Alex Seek Out and Value Diversity and here we all have that opportunity in this community with the common goal of becoming successful in online business.

Thanks Alex
