April the first has come and gone I have the sneaking suspicion that April the 1st may be every day for some internet hopefuls. I had a little friend turn up in my inbox this morning. I first came into contact with it about four years ago and it looks like it is still doing the rounds today.

Pay Pal boost.

"You will be making money by lunchtime, retired by Friday. For too long the internet gurus have had this secret method all to themselves now is the time for you to make some real money ".

Blah blah blah, and so it goes on and on, the only difference is the shift in the price point from $7.95 to $4.95 for the opportunity to make thousands of dollars.

Happy-clappy all my dreams have come true.

Just to cure your curiosity.

So with Pay Pal boost, you create income by selling Pay Pal boost to someone else who in turn on sells it to someone else, who in turn sells it to someone else.

At the end of the day, folks are making money by on selling Pay Pal boost.

The question begs so what is the actual product or service here?

I am not the sharpest marketer, in the online world, but hey there is no product associated with this, it is kind of crazy, you are making money by selling thin air.

In another time and place it was called snake oil, that cure all for just about anything.

This kind of marketing raises a few questions, it can be easy to make money online, and make money very quickly, in the process you are becoming a merchant of hope and begin preying on the less fortunate and hopeful amongst us.

Sustainable Business?

The only problem with that is that it is not a sustainable business model, either for your business or for your self. For sure, you could make some money, or it can be about drawing that line in the sand and setting your best course using your moral compass.

It was interesting I came across this guy who is doing really well, originally he was a dodgy character, spammer from way back, now he is legitimate, he is finding those skeletons in the cupboard can be hard to shake off.

What goes online stays online forever at the moment.

To achieve does take time, and as an analogy, it could be the same as going to law school for one semester and then applying to become a supreme court judge without even being nominated.

Successful online folks have paid their dues to get to where they are or want to be and the thing is that they continue still do so in order to remain where they are.

The Secret

If there is a secret to making money online it is this, learning a legitimate skill set and then applying and using all the resources that you have available to you, not only that but also continuing to learn and grow that skill set is one of the best ways to become and remain successful.

You have to admit that the online marketing world can be so weird, I was reminded of that today, when we come across a well laid out path, and well-worn track all we have to do is to follow along, sometimes that can be the hardest thing in the world to do.

The wheel goes around and around there is no need to reinvent it, just follow along.

Creating and sharing value online using a legitimate system is the best way to boost your Pay Pal account today, tomorrow and anytime, forget about the rest.

Hi, Joseph, you are most welcome thank you for reading and commenting much appreciated.

Alex

You are right Alex, there is no substitute for good, old fashioned, graft.
Colette and Philip

Yes, unfortunately, it would be good to think that there are short cuts, there are not it is a learning and implementing process involved.

Thank you as always for stopping by Colette and Philip.

Alex

Yup!

Hi, Netta good to see you and that response says it all thank you.

Alex

I have seen too many get-rich-quick schemes. At least at WA they tell you up front that it will be a lot of work.

Hi Rhonda, get rich schemes are dime a dozen and not many folks make any money, it is refreshing to be here at WA and have the road ahead laid out for us.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Alex

I have all kinds of 'wonderful' opportunities presented in my email every day. LOTS of them. I used to read them and have been interested in some of them. I stopped buying any after finding a couple of them. I learned to be skeptical.

Hi Janina, I think that may be that case for many and it almost comes with the territory, some offers can be so tempting, it is the outcomes that may leave folks wanting.

almost a phase that folks go through it is good to be out the other side, I have to agree definitely leaves many feeling skeptical.

Thank you for sharing your experiences much appreciated.

Alex

So many times we think 'To good to be true' yet there is a part of us that still thinks that maybe it is....then we think again, 'to good to be true' and hopefully we move on. Good thoughts as always Alex.

In this industry, opportunities lurk around every corner and arrive in our inboxes on a daily if not hourly basis.

Finding a system that can tick all the boxes, knowledge base training and resources can be hard to beat and we have that here in Wealthy Affiliate.

Too good to be true can be the warning bell that we need to take heed of.

Thank you for joining the conversation Twack, and sharing your thoughts, much appreciated.

Alex

Always welcome and easy to contribute with your posts. Thank you.

So true, Alex:) So totally true!

Hi Suzi, yes it is there are so many products out there doing the rounds preying on peoples desire to create change in their lives, unfortunately, expectations do not meet outcomes.

That is where Wealthy Affiliate comes into its own, no promises of riches, just a training program, and knowledge base second to none with resources to match.

The only thing needed for a winning combination is our input.

Thank you for stopping by much appreciated.

Alex

Excellent advice, Alex. Thank you.

When reading about the Pay Pal boost model, reminded me of MLM. Maybe that's what it is, but anything like that turns me off these days.

I've seen other so-called online marketing schemes that are level based and appear legitimate and rather enticing. You don't need to go far to find them. They are all around us, and so cruel (for the want of a better word). I suppose the better word is 'Shiny Objects'. In saying that, I was very interested in one of those programmes since being at WA. Where was my thinking? I can't imagine!

I agree that creating and sharing value online is the best and legitimate way of receiving the dollars we all enjoy.

Valerie

Hi Valerie, I guess it is similar in the fact that too make money you had to recruit others to join in, in order to make money, there were products in some cases but usually, they took a back seat to the recruitment drive which usually ran at fever pitch.

Which if we think about it is how most scams operate.

It is interesting t that you mention MLM, it was such a buzz marketing thing earlier on probably before the online world emerged as the powerhouse that it is today.

I always remember some friends joined a well known MLM marketing brand, folks would see them coming and duck for cover, they were so entrenched they didn't realize they were driving, friends family and potential customers away.

There are not many that succeed in that form of marketing.

There is an opportunity lurking around every corner and the online space is saturated, it can pay to go with the tried and true, tested and knowledge and resources based systems, Wealthy Affiliate is in a class of its own.

Thank you for joining the conversation Valerie much appreciated.

Alex

Hi Alex, I've just caught up with your message.

I totally agree that Wealthy Affiliate is a class of its own.

I have no doubt that learning from previous ventures of whatever standard, is what eventually lead me towards discovering Wealthy Affiliate.

As it is often said - There is a reason for everything.

Valerie

I have to agree with you Valerie, there are so many adventures out there especially when it comes to the online journey, it can seem at times that we waste time, there is a reason for things happening and down the track, they can pay dividends.

Arriving at Wealthy Affiliate is like winning the jack pot.

Makes complete sense to me!

The thing about online marketing is that it can be a straightforward process if we follow a prescribed formula and that is what we have here inside WA, it is tried and tested and proven.

Thank you for stopping by Alister.
