Ok Boomer, Times are Changing Get With The Program

Boomers

Apparently, one of the annoying things about the baby boomers is that they are always living in the past and dragging past references into today's world.

" Ok, boomer change the record."

The leading generation is the one that created all the problems, the missed opportunities, the pollution, the internet, the change the world technologies and just about everything else.

One thing that has remained the same is that it is the lead generation that creates and spends money that tends to keep the whole kit and caboodle ticking along.

An Analogy

The classic analogy stepping back a generation the knowledgeable 17-year-old girl offering parental advice to the ex-advertising executive, a 32-year-old mom with three kids under five right at the point when dear little in the middle Olivia is throwing the "I paddies of all I paddies,"

Nothing like on the job training;

Ok, teenie.

Every generation has that encapsulated outlook. It is only our generation that has the knowledge and bragging rights when it comes to rebellion, that challenges the status quo.

That rebellion that shakes the tree and heralds in the change that will make things better.

At any point in time, the more things change, the more they stay the same. Time is shifting; we all end up doing the same things.

It is all relative, and the key at any age or stage is to be relative. When we begin to create points of separation, it can be tough to maintain relevancy across any generational divide. Separation, after all, is the primary job description for every generation;

Create rebellion, create separation, create new definitions.

At some defining point, we have to make the recognition that we are all the same, hardwired to follow a prescribed path, and there is no escaping that. Failure to recognize that creates that point of separation everyone is singing for sure.

The only trouble is that it is from different songbooks.

If there ever was a time to create new possibilities it is today, the ability for people to get online and share has created this opportunity.

Anyone who wants to can create a space and presence online. What was once the domain of the technical folks amongst us today is in the public domain.

No one has a monopoly.

There exists this fantastic opportunity to create bridges across the generational divides. It just takes some knowledge and resources to achieve this.

What's more, the internet doesn't care. The only thing that counts is the content that is created and shared. If it is relevant, there will be an audience ready and willing to read and view.

Change is happening at a rapid rate, and everyone can participate in creating that change. Rather than being left in the dust, the boomers are adapting and embracing that change.

Experience is one of those things that has to be earned; on the other hand, experiences can be purchased.

It can be so easy to stereotype a generation, and in doing so, we can lose valuable traction at a time in our history when we need to be pulling together.

Find that place to create your space;

One of the appealing things about a place like Wealthy Affiliate is that it doesn't discriminate. It offers people who care to explore the opportunity the ability to create an online presence once we tap into the knowledge base, training, and resources. The only limitation is the extent of our imaginations, and that is not a limiting factor for any generation.

Next time someone says " get with the program, " no matter what generation segmentation they represent, or you are in for that matter;

The response;

" No worries already there."

I would love to hear your thoughts and opinions.

Alex Evans.

I think we are fortunate, and are in the right place at the right time. Good for us.

I would have to second that, Fran, we definitely made a good decision the day we decided to sign up.

Right time, right place, to create the right outcomes.

Thank you.

Alex

I just keep watching that little plane with the big green number on it. More interested in seeing it go down than my rank!

A great post, Alex. Absolutely spot-on!

Why one generation signals out another gets me.

I have only one grizzle and that is how seniors in New Zealand are stereotyped by TV advertising.

When I'm watching TV I keep my remote handy and use it when I hear - "Seniors - we need to talk....." A few times I haven't been near to my remote and heard "before you pop your clogs....". I mean to say - is everyone over the age of 65 considered about to depart. To my belief, seniors have done the hard yards and previously provided for whatever event, at whatever time.

Finally, moving on from seniors - If only people could appreciate the world as it is today, it would be a much happier environment to wake up to each morning.

All the best,
Valerie

Hi, Valerie good to see you, glad you liked this post.

At some point, we will have to work together, across the generations. One of the pluses about a Wealthy Affiliate, a level playing field.

When it comes to advertising, there seem to be defined demographics, and in the minds of marketers, we are all placed into various selling brackets.

I hear what you are saying, Valerie.

Well said Valerie, I think you have hit the nail on the head, acceptance can be the starting point, of good things.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Alex

My pleasure, Alex.

Thank you.

Have a great week Valerie.

Hey Alex, so if I understand you correctly, we need to be able to meet the need of anyone. And do not discredit just because we all have a point that we repeat the generation before us and then the one behind us will also repeat the same processes.

Just in a different way, so to speak. So, we all go about the process of learning and leading just in our own way and at our own time...

Great point. I wish you the best!

Bob

Hi Bob, thank you for dropping by, as we travel along we tend to pick up natural bias, across generations we have different outlooks.

The thing is that we all progress through the age ranks and each stage has a different phase associated with it. Finding the best way to address this as marketers can make a difference at the end of the day.

Thinking outside of the norm brings different outcomes.

The best way is to make our own way in our own time, it kind of helps us to be sustainable.

Thank you for stopping by.

Alex

👍😀

Outstanding post, Alex. Thanks for sharing. You are entirely correct. When I need to know something with new technology, I ask either my youngest daughter or 4 year old grandson. Oy!

Hi Christine, that is so cool and so true, if we need to know something then give the remote to the kid.

It is extraordinary how they pick up on technology, I am sure some clever folks are doing research on the subject.

The most classic thing I saw this week was a four-year-old getting into their aunties smartphone.

When asked, they had watched aunty scribe that pattern on their phone and simply copied the movement.

What, do you say, amazed me.

Alex

This is an awesome platform where you can grow your knowledge base . It can be shared ... Each generation has its own good and bad ... here there is very little of that separation
Great post

Tim

Hi Tim, so true and at the core, there is an awakening happening where folks are seeking to work together.

This is definitely on display here in WA.

A great culture to immerse in.

Alex.

Beautiful share, Alex! Thank you:)

Hi Suzi, goods to see you hope that your joureny goes well.

You are most welcome glad that you enjoyed this post.

In the wider online community, it can be so easy to be put in a pigeon hole. the thing once we realize it is us that create the way we engage.

Alex

Totally agree:)

WelI said. I love it! "No worries already there"
Have a super Sunday,
Mickey

Hi, Mickey, you are most welcome, we are on the right path to creating some good outcomes.

So in a way, we are all totally there.

Alex

Oh Alex I love your parting words, Already There!
Terrific post.

It really is all about making the decision to keep learning and growing, no matter what age or generation.
Lily 😊

Hi, Lily, thank you for the vote of confidence;

Well said, one of the things that are becoming apparent is that we all need to continually be learning and growing it is a lifetime endeavor.

One that pays dividends.

That is one of the things is so beneficial about Wealthy Affiliate, we are exposed to that by default.

Alex

Yes, demographics are changing. Boomers will create a large “silver” market. The younger niche consumer behavior will change too. E-Commerce will be the main driving force for shopping replacing shopping malls. I see large spaces like malls to reinvent itself into products and services that require thematic experiences.

Hi Stanley, I like that one, the silver market, so true folks are living longer and enjoying a quality of life for extended periods.

The retailing and wholesaling landscape is changing, rapidly. We are seeing many businesses unable to make the transition. Bricks and mortar shopping is the hardest hit by the looks.

Alex

They do not have an open mind and think they know everything there is to know about anything.

“People who cannot accept the opinion of others do not have an open mind and are not as lucky as those who have an open mind to grow their opinion which is their future lifestyle.” Tom Short.

“People who Argue with You teach You their point of View. Add it to Yours, pick out the Best of it and Have a Better Opinion Than Before.” Tom Short.

Thank you for your time,

Tom.

Hi, Tom thanks for sharing your insights;

One of the keys across any age demographic is to have an open mind. It does help us to engage and become aware of the environments that we come into contact with.

Really like your quotes.
