My Site is Indexed But Hey Wait There's No Content

Kind of seeing this come up of late,

" Great news and I just wanted to share, my site just got indexed, funny thing is that there is no content on it, I am so happy any how."

I used to think that is a bit weird, until the same thing happened, it was a domain that I brought through Wealthy Affiliate Domains, it had been registered before but someone had let the domain name expire and it was then deleted and then put back into the public domain.

It was a one of those, that are just too good to let slip through your fingers, just a total classic and it will be fun exploring the possibilities.

Short answer to my question of a domain name/site being indexed with no content, is because it is sitting in side WA with the hosting enabled, and also SSL certificate enabled how cool is that, an open invitation to get into it.

Just demonstrating the power of WA once again, no wonder we are all still here.

That got me to thinking.

I wondered if that domain name had some history attached to it?

There is an excellent resource online called the way back machine,

https://web.archive.org

I inputted the URL of the no content indexed site to discover that it was actually a website back in 2011, so clicking back at that time when the site was crawled will show what the site actually looked like, totally amazing. So obviously it has a little of history.

Back in the day I wondered if, the domain name/website may have been banned by Google add sense, this resource will also let you know if pages are indexed in Google, kind of handy.

http://www.bannedcheck.com/

Looking good.

Starting out we may not be aware of things like that, moving forward I will be doing a little more background research into domain names prior to making that purchase.

A little about the way back machine, it is to all intents and purposes a digital archive of website pages dating back to 1996, currently there are in excess of 339 billion pages in the library, so if you are doing some deep research then chances are that the web page or site will be there, along with books, music, software, and more.

Archive.org is a nonprofit organization and an amazing reflection of the development of the online world, looking back it can be easy to see why a website may have hit the rocks as time passed.

Food for thought moving forward.?

Very interesting ..amazes me the scope of information available on the net. There is a tool for everything and anything. The ones you mentioned are a good source to begin our online business by researching domains. I don't see any issues using the name and developing the site.
Debbie

Hi Debbie, there are so many resources to help us make an informed and defined decision.

I think the thing is to do some background, I was in the camp that jumped at the opportunity, my main metric used to be if it sounded good, then it was a runner, I have come unstuck a couple of times, so now tend to dig a little deeper. That is where the resources that we have can come into play.

Thank you for your thoughtful respob]ner Debbie.

It's a great idea to be able to purchase older domains from WA and use tools to discover their history.
It should not be a surprise when our websites are indexed even without content because WA web hosting quality is excellent. Our websites are of thoroughbred status and they will eventually be indexed.
Thank you for the the three great leads which are very valuable and for sharing this blog, Alex.
Best regards,
Maxine

Hi, Maxine, you are most welcome I hope that you find them useful.

It wouldn't be right this minute, Alex.
Bookmarked for future reference.
Thank you, my friend.

Thanks Alex for sharing.I am amazed at the power of "WA".To your success. td

Hi Terry good to see you, we are certainly in a very good place, and have some very good resources to help us achieve the outcomes we are seeking.

Hi Alex, nice post. I saw the same thing on my no content website. I had the same reaction that you did: disbelief! I'll start adding content when I get to that part of my training. I'm following you now.

Chuck

Hi, Chuck good to meet you, it can seem strange there is more happening than we see on the surface. best wishes for your content creation, it is definitely where the rubber meets the road.

Alex, thank you for your comment and the like.

Excellent post Alex. I was not aware that we could buy aged domains thru WA. I thought it was just fresh new ones. That is awesome news as I quite often used to look on ExpiredDomains.net but it is a bit of a headache on there!!

Thanks for the post

The thing about Wealthy Affiliate domains is that they are all in-house and accessible from our dashboards, so it makes it an easier process.

I have noticed when searching that some of the premium names are unavailable through the platform, we get such value and if they are priced over the odds then they are not available through the platform.

When it comes to aged domains, that is where the archive comes into play, a simple search will let us know.

It is a simpler process in that WA only offers, .com, .net, .org

Expired domains, is on my phone, it is the source of some real gems, worthwhile spending some time finding your way around.

Thanks for sharing that resource, Jon, one of my favorite places to find those potential money maker domain names.

This is a good thing to know. WA stands out still on a lot of ways.

Hi Eli, I hope that you fond this information useful, and I have to agree with you WA certainly stands out, a good head and shoulders above the rest we are all of us on an exceptional journey.

Thank you for stopping by.

You are certainly full of information Alex. I had assumed that there would be some way of recovering a domains history, I was just never interested enough to find out.

Now I don't courtesy of you and the resources here at WA.

Image the power that WA must exert on the Google and other search engines, especially to have a site indexed before content.

We do have a wonderful asset here at WA, it is people like you who make it so.

Hi, Steve, I was a bit the same, to be honest, a domain name was exactly that, digging a little deeper they can carry some information with them.

The power of WA is something else,

Thank you for stopping by, much appreciated.

Thanks, for the great resource you shared, Alex. Great to read another one of your posts too.

Wayne

Hi Wayne good to see you and I hope that the journey goes well, it is a very useful resource and one that can be worth the effort of digging around, some amazing information there.

In this case, it was really interesting to see what the website looked like, and it certainly gave a sense of the direction to head, 2011 to 2018 is like a couple of centuries in terms of the internet.

Thank you for stopping by and for your kind words.
