I Never Win all the Time we can still Win All the Time

Allergic Reaction!

I have an allergic reaction to the word failure; in my mind, the only way you can fail is to give up. One of the classic views is that you will never break the internet; some folks have certainly given it a good nudge; conversely, the intent may end up breaking you; I think we all have had that feeling from time to time Unless we set ourselves up to manage the situation, situations will continue to manage us. In terms of marketing, that is so true.

Over time, we come to realize that we will not win every time; things can go awry, the unforeseen, even though we plan and set goals and measure our progress. We can visualize the outcomes we seek if the energy is correct, then it follows that those outcomes will materialize. It would be cool if that were how it rolled; some mindset shifts can help the flow.

Our Existence is Not Independent!

As marketers, our existence is not independent of everyone else's; to exist, we have to coexist. We are all each other, marketers and customers; one does not exist without the other. For some time, that notion was lost on me; if we can find that point whereby we coexist, it can be the place where we can create and win anyway; even if things are not going our way.

If we think in singular terms, we can become vulnerable and isolated.

There is that saying about banging your head against a brick wall, trying to force some outcomes, expecting different results that never arrive.

I always hold to the concept of it doesn't matter how we get into the various situations that we face or find ourselves in; it is what we do about it when we are there, how we pivot, how we change what is happening, and most importantly, how do we move forward.

When we think about it, winning and losing are partners in the same game or dance if you like. The successful marketers continue to adapt to the world that surrounds them, whereas the less successful marketers continue to try to make the world adapt to them.

I hope that makes sense; it was an epiphany for me!

I got up at "stupid o'clock" to watch a webinar this morning; the guy in his head was delivering value: unfortunately, that was far from the truth. Looking on, he was trying to adapt the marketing world to himself. Does it work, to a degree? Looking in terms of sustainability, it is a short-term fix. We all know how most webinars roll. Some value leads into the sales or promotional pitch. It is how the industry works.

To win anyway, no matter what.

The results conveyor belt won't always be running at full noise, heck sometimes and days it won't be running at all.

Know the feeling?

That sticky question; are we adapting to the changing world that surrounds us, or are we still persevering with trying to make the world adapt to us.

Words are selling, or they are not!

It is a slight but meaningful shift in mindset and behavior that can make a considerable difference as I am finding out advantageously.

Your thoughts would be so appreciated and helpful.

After today, I adapted very well when someone in a caravan was reversed into the large fire hydrant. Fire hydrant! What fire hydrant? Yes, I was down on my hands and knees today, scooping out the water in a hole to find where the damage was. Yes, I believe I did very well.

Very well said, Alex! I am always trying to adapt to the daily changes when they invariably occur! Thanks for sharing your thoughts!

Jeff

Hi Jeff, you are most welcome, from observation the online world can change more than most. I think that we have to build that adaptability into what we plan and do.

Yes, that is true, Alex! I just wish that it wouldn't change so much so fast!

Jeff

Classic, it can be hard to keep up some days.

Most days, sadly, it seems, Alex!

Hi Alex
They're thought-provoking points you make.

In my mind, all ‘failures’ are simply feedback.

In my mind, marketing content is only useful if it addresses a problem, a need or a desire. A prospect's search is king.

I believe that all ‘inventions’ that have ‘changed the World’ have only ‘won’ because they addressed a human need or desire.

:-)

A thought provoking response there, Richard. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Reflecting content can resolve issues and can also provide information without necessarily resolving any problems. In its fullness, content can answer the question before its asked.

I like the way that you think, Richard.

Hi Alex
Thank you for your feedback. I agree that content may well answer a question before it gets asked. Thereby, it can generate a new level of awareness that might later lead to a new need or desire.

As you wrote, we lose when we don't continue to try. I think we need to adapt as we do anything in life because of the circumstances of life that are constantly changing.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, Jim, on reflection, and given the global situation, it can be so helpful to adapt to the world around us rather than giving the world what we think it needs.

For marketers, this will create many avenues that we can explore.

I come so close to quitting at times because I get discouraged at very few sales. However, I won't quit. I have to do something drastic to get things to work for me, but haven't figured out what it is yet. There are still more things to try.

Good for you Fran, so many depart close to achieving the goals they set out to; it can be unsettling, especially when they promote that they were doing so well.

If we are honest, we all have those periods where we are challenged, sales, or lack of being one of the drivers.

This will be a sandbox post; I am curious to know what it is that you are selling? one of the things that have really helped me is working out exactly what it is that I am selling or, more to the point, what it is that I am selling once we know that things have a way of falling into place, by way of being able to create a strategy and focus on creating content across platforms that will reach out to folks that share the same interests.

I'm selling all sorts of products related to cats. I have to get them in front of the right audience. Something will work out.
