The thing about coming to WA is that most folks are looking for change, to learn some skills that will enable them to create that change, at the end of the day we are all here for the same reason. One of the things that separates WA from the rest is that it is built on some really strong core values. The ethos of paying it forward is such an empowering influence and in terms of online success it is the central pillar that drives it.

Reflecting back it is one of those times that we can be filled with expectation, that feeling of the unknown that may become something good, but we don't really know, we live with that hope that it will be.

In the beginning, in western terms " greenhorns " all of us, we all have to start somewhere, and then build our experience from there.

Like much of the online world for the less experienced, it can be a challenge to navigate our way to the destinations that we are seeking, especially when we are unsure of that destination when we start the journey.

I may be out of step, but Wealthy Affiliate is a learning platform, folks come to learn and with the resources that are provided along with the membership be it the free starter or premium, proceed to create an online business, based around the creation of that website.

For some folks it may be their first venture into the world of business, I suspect that for many it is the first time for creating an online business.

For the ones that may have walked this path before, it is littered with tales of, being scammed, or of high ticket courses that all lead to, nowhere central, so the vibe that I get from observation is that WA is for many that chance to create change in their lives, it may be the last chance, be it supplementing a retirement income, creating a flourishing online business, making that midlife career change, finding an opportunity to create an income because of health issues, the list goes on and you could probably think of many more.

If you come across a starter member, the best thing to do is cut a little slack, once upon a time we were all like them and we couldn't understand why those folks liked or got so excited about " green eggs and ham ".

Questions or blogs

  • 1, Look for the status " Starter" is a good indication.
  • 2, Look at the date they started.
  • 3, Look at how many posts they have made and respond accordingly.
  • 4, If someone makes a mistake give them the benefit of the doubt, reach out and point them in the right direction.

In the beginning all we need is a little nurturing, then, in turn we will nurture.

Nurturing is good for business, especially online businesses, and especially for businesses that are built on referrals.

So if I pop up a little " teny test the waters" blog or that abstract question or I make a genuine mistake because I don't understand your ways and you start talking to me in a foreign language or start talking down to me, or hating on me will I stay or will I go?

Talking genuine members here, not those folks that rock on in and start with that business post with links out to their business sites, the post about a gambling site in a far off place or one of those posts with that link to a writing promotional site, you know the one with that post about what color to pick for your dorm at uni, those guys are just being opportunistic.

They create an account usually don't fill in their bio's and then put up a post filled with affilaite links, which they will never support, and hey folks they will never return or be seen again. Somebody is teaching them the wrong way to go about things, definitely their loss.

Talking folks that are looking to create real change in their lives. The first few engagements can be the most critical in their online journey and that goes for anyone, it can be so easy for new folks to be crushed.

WA is family and the best families look out for each other, big brothers and sisters look out for the younger ones.

The bizarre thing about the online world is that today's beginner may be the person that offers you that million dollar opportunity down the road. I know that we have a set of rules that govern how WA operates, part of our growth may be to learn how to differentiate and develop a sense of understanding, with in that framework.

Just some reflections.

Thank you for reading.

We all start new at something in our lives. If we eat our young there will be nothing left to build on. I am so passionate about this subject.

Thank you Alex

Laura

Hi, Luara good to see you, the online world changes so much and every day brings something new to learn or adapt to, so in a way we are always beginning something new, it certainly feels like that.

Every day we are building on yesterdays achievements, spreading that and sharing experiences can help those that follow along behind.

That is such a good way of expressing things, in the referral world, it is so important to look after newer folks.

I am reminded of that saying what goes around comes around so we are helped we, in turn, help others.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts, much appreciated.

Hi Alex, you have such an incredible way with words. And you are exactly right.

Laura

Hi, Laura thank you for your kind words, that is so kind.

I don't know how long I will feel like a newbie. All I know is I have A LOT to learn. I feel like I'm a lot slower than my peers, but I'm plugging along, and I haven't stopped. I have had a few setbacks in the 6 or so weeks I've been here, but I have come back strong. My advise to the newbie: Keep Going. Ask Questions. Google is your friend! Join the discussions. Take part. Give back if you can. Just a friendly word sometimes helps a lot, so don't feel like you can't help because you don't know anything. Most of all, be open to change. RhondaLeigh

Great post, Alex!

And thank you for that, Roxy. I'm a newbie myself and like you, I'm struggling somewhat but coming back strong. There are times when I feel, can I do this? I have little knowledge of the tech language and have no idea about some of the things discussed. But what I don't understand I go to google. I review the training several times. My daughter helps me. And I receive help from my WA family. But guess what? To my great surprise, this week I found out I was admitted to Super Affiliate 2019. Had to read it over to be sure I was seeing correctly. What a feeling! As everyone on WA would tell you never give up.

Hi Rhonda, thank you for sharing I think that a lot of folks will identify with what you have said, and I know that if we are honest it is how many of us felt in the beginning.

It can be hard when we look around and see folks seemingly doing much better then we are and I think that you have offered the perfect antidote in your response, many thanks.

From talking to folks one of the best things we can do is to get involved, and start sharing our experiences and reflections, we are all on the same journey, it is just that some folks are a little farther down the road, even so, we all face challenges on a daily basis that is the nature of online marketing.

Community, family, sharing, growth, here in WA

A winning combination.

Congrats to you! I'm in the Super Affiliate challenge for 2020. So we will have to help each other.

Hi, Cherryl congratulations on being accepted for the super affiliate challenge, it may feel as that you are not making progress getting involved in the challenge may be the things that will make all the difference in your online journey, best wishes keep us up to date on your progress.

That is a fantastic post, Alex. I'm so pleased you have highlighted the need to differentiate between members completely new to affiliate marketing and those who join WA with a background of online marketing.

However, it does go beyond experience. I had a few years of affiliate marketing experience behind me when I joined WA, but I did not have the confidence to get involved in the community for quite some time.

Once I grew in confidence I started looking towards helping new members whose posts were not getting recognized as in receiving comments. There's nothing more disheartening than publishing a post and not receiving comments, or maybe just a few. I received just two comments with my first post, both from NZ members who joined within the same week as I joined. I appreciated those comments but felt inadequate due to no member with longer WA experience recognizing me, nor my post. And hey, where were those member's who had welcomed me!! Sometime later I published a post about the subject of acknowledging new members posts!

I like how you talk about WA as a family, which is what we are. An attitude of give and take, with an emphasis on 'give' leads to happiness and satisfaction all round.

Thanks again, Alex, for a brilliant post.

Valerie

Hi Valerie, I missed your comment sorry,

It is something that is becoming apparent, some folks land and already have an appreciation and knowledge of online marketing it kind of stands out in the progress that they make self-assured and rapid.

For many, it can be a struggle, to find that confidence both in their own ability and to be able to engage in and with the community.

Thank you for sharing your experiences, I felt that same way when I joined it can be hard to overcome the perceived inexperience and lack of confidence, just a matter of hanging in there.

The funny thing is that when we do cross that bridge there can be no stopping us, having said that it can be so easy for the wind to be taken out of our sails.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and reflections Valerie, much appreciated.

It was a pleasure to share, Alex.

I agree about crossing that bridge. It certainly can work both ways.

No worry about missing my comment. It's very easy to do.

Many thanks for everything :)

Great post, Alex.
Thanks for reminding us that we were once newbie.

Hi Christine, I think someone once said if we can remember from where we came from it is the start of wisdom. We all had to start somewhere and some days depending on what we are trying to achieve it can feel like we are beginners all over again.

Thank you for stopping by, much appreciated.

Good thoughts, Alex. This business should be a nurturing business, so it is up to us to help those who are just starting. Yes, we need to remember our own beginnings and help people over the early hurdles.

Hi, Fran sharing the WA opportunity and helping folks in those beginning phases can be a two-way street we can learn much about our own journey when helping others.

Definitely remembering our own journey and struggles can be one of the best ways to keep us honest.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts much appreciated.

*** mega-wonderful post, Alex! ***

Hi Keisha, thank you for your kind words, we are all on this wonderful journey together, part of an online community that truly cares about folks getting ahead and creating those life-changing outcomes.

*** yes, absolutely! ... ***

i agree with you wholeheartedly in what you say.
To use an old cliche what don't kill you makes you stronger.
Regards Shane.

Hi Shane, thank you for sharing your thoughts, that saying has stood the test of time and it rings out so true.

We are all on the same journey and all heading in the same direction and desiring the same outcomes at the end of the day.

Very well stated Alex

Hi, Ron thank you for stopping by much appreciated.

Excellent post, Alex. You are such an inspiration to all of us but I can only speak for myself that I totally relate to being a newbie know when I first came on board was warmly welcomed.
Then when I decided to invest in myself by getting a premium membership - WOW! I got even more congrats...where else is that done on a membership site that offers these tools, training, posts, and stuff I would not have even known about if I didn't read an article review about the WA site by a guy named Louie? Keep writing these, man. You remind us to stay humble, be patient with newbies and always share the aloha and pay it forward. Mahalo, my friend!

Hi Shalie, that is the WA flow it is an expression from one to the other to the next, folks arrive and it is like wow, folks actually care about my well being and actually want me to succeed.

That is a rare thing in the online world it can be dog eat dog out in the trenches, so WA is unique in that aspect that it is all about paying it forward.

The whole thing about remembering where we came from and remembering what it was like being new can really help us to grow our base by creating that expression to new folks that have never heard about WA,

That communication happens naturally if we keep the beginner's eyes and learn to see with our ears.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts they were expressed so well, much appreciated.

Well said, Alex! You're spot on. Most of us come here looking for the best opportunity to build our online businesses. I agree with you that it pays to be kind to others. Yes, they might open a door to an opportunity for us, but we might be able to open some doors for them if we care enough to get to know them.

Thanks for another great post!
Colleen

Hi Colleen, thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, I think that you have tapped on one of the core elements of the WA flow, we are on the same journey heading in the same direction and the thing is that we can learn from each other, we can all grow as individuals through the sharing of that knowledge and those experiences.

Thank you for stopping by Colleen much appreciated.
