An Observation

I have noticed that quite a few are a little reticent about sharing that they are involved in or with online marketing. At some phases, until you come out of your shell and claim the mantle, it is almost as if one is ashamed to say, definitely most of us went through that stage where we just lacked the confidence.

I am a writer; my words speak for me in my absence!

Not.

I guess as we immerse, our confidence grows, definitely boosted by that sales trickle that forebodes a tsunami.

It is a journey.

Every Journey Starts Somewhere

The beginning years can be problematic. Talking to people who have given up, there seems to be a few reasons.

We talk ourselves out of it.

We let others talk us out of it.

We collectively talk each other out of it.

We let the journey talk us out of it.

You may agree or disagree or add more validations—experience; asking those who have given up qualify the reasoning.

Don't get me wrong, living under a rock is a very comfortable lifestyle. The trouble is that you don't get to see much of the world, and we could call it just another lonely day.

At some point, the world beckons, yet still, we can have that reluctance to share; it is a different story when the money flows those around us can be our biggest amplifiers and want in on the action.

In the beginning, the harshest critics can be those around us, not to be mean just because they care? A complex subject and situation; diving deep would result in 400k words of exportation for sure. Their feedback can be gold if we can see it for what it is; that extra pair of eyes, gold sometimes.

The Hardest words!

The most challenging words we will ever write are the first fifty or so. For the first time, we are writing for ourselves, creating content to share with ourselves and others; Not that school taskmaster who delights in assigning essays in the name of education.

Writing for yourself may not fit any of the blogging constitution amendments; I mean, it has to be for the audience, does it not?

It can be so easy to get trapped in the eternal audience-first mindset. The reality is that we have to derive pleasure from the words that we craft. If we don't get a sense of satisfaction from word crafting, then we are just creating another job.

Are we not?

Who wants that. One is a journey to self-fulfillment, and one ends up down the bottom of a lonely street, at the heartbreak hotel of lost words. Initially, it can be a love-hate relationship, one where we have to invest energy to develop our writing sense.

You know when you have reached the zone, push the publish button, read your words, and then step back, and scare yourself.

It's good, mighty fine; you don't have to think it; you just know and feel it. Your words resonate; you are propagating and promoting an angle; when you own your words, there is a water-tight guarantee that others will want to rent them from you for a little while.

They may even pay for the privilege; they may even take out an extended lease.

So forget about the why, the audience, and just wordcraft hard out, go your own way, and scare yourself daily. The rest will take care of its self, trust me, thousands don't; some do and shine.

Hi Alex, there are a few family members that think I am wasting my time and money here, but I am going my own way and will continue to do so.

All the best,

Michael

Hi Michael, thank you for chiming in, and well done; those around us can mean well; their concern can add pressure to what we are doing.

I think that when we reach that point whereby we back ourselves and have a clear vision about what we are trying to achieve and where we are going, that much falls away.

In WA, the support of fellow members can make a huge difference in the process of awakening. I think people reading your comment will take heart and recognize that we all travel the same path.

Kicking to the point is somewhat tough

Hi Mizanur yes indeed, it can be tough when we start out, and the journey can present challenges. If we enjoy what we learn and do creatively the odds for success increase.

Thanks Alex. Very true

Hi Geoffrey you are most welcome,
Alex

Absolutely Alex, could not agree more

Hi Dave, just some reflections, being online is no different to other aspects of life, at the heart of things, if we enjoy what we are doing, good outcomes are on the horizon, always.
