Creative thinking - how to get out of your little box

Contrary to popular beliefs, sometimes, easy means hard.

Have you ever been given an easy task, which is very difficult for you to do, and maybe no one but you? It is about now that you will feel frustration kicking in. It is also similar to what happens when someone enters your world and asks you to think outside the box.

Then that internal dialogue!

" Come on, give me some creative ideas, let me think outside the box. I want some new ideas, easy, and simple ones. Come on you can do this ".

It is a lot harder to do than it appears.

We have to practice and push ourselves. We have to know how to get out of the box, and where to go. Most importantly, how do we get back inside the box, because that is where we live. We live in our boxes, that is what we do.

It has worked forever, that is it.

Why do we live in the box, and why do we have to get out of the box? After all inside the box, we feel safe and comfortable. Why should we risk it?

It is this perfect synchronicity thing; when we look at it, only a few people manage to escape. Think about our lives today; we are a part of a global community all hardwired to seek the same things. Looking at the world today, we share information via the internet. In closed ecosystems, we will eventually all have the same information.

For blogging and Affiliate marketing, that is a scary proposition. If we all have the same information, what determines the difference between us?

It depends on what we produce from this shared information.

For thinking creatively, it is necessary for us, to define what box are we talking about? It can be helpful to have a clear definition. One that we can clearly understand. It is not our mind; we cannot think outside our mind.

Our little boxes are the boundaries within our minds.

Boundaries between what we know, and which we have not yet thought about. What is our mind and how we ticktock?

We all have indirect experiences, from day one, we are programmed and taught to learn what and how other people think. What other people have discovered, and what other people do, that is our evolved sameness.

It is hard to escape.

We have our first-hand experience, our successes, and our failures and those learned experiences that make us who we are. All of this builds around us our little boxes, that space where we survive very well.

Whatever is outside, can be invisible to us. Many of us do not know what is on the outside. That can be a problem from which many of us can withdraw many times. The more we push it away, the harder it can be to break away, to step out from behind the curtain.

We have to add more details. It goes beyond the accepted or known information.

Instead of XYZ, try kicking it into gear with ZYX.

Something wrong, silly, different, and not set in that accepted vain introduce the irrelevant factor.

Just that one thing can help you to jump out of the box.

So we take the information that we have and mix it up, adding extra, it extends the scope of our experiences.

Out of the box thinking, simplified is our experiences with additional information.

We are now crossing a vital bridge.

From what we know. Into the unknown or what we haven't contemplated as yet.

New ideas, thoughts, and outcomes.

We have stepped outside of the box.

The beauty of it is that we can step back onto the box at will.

In terms of blogging and sharing those ideas and information, we have a key: our programmed information and additional information. Good stuff happens, with that expression of uniqueness.

When suspended in our boxes, we have no destination other than creating what has already been created. We bring the same message just packaged slightly differently, from the same people who in turn brought it from other people.

Reading and viewing information is the same as viewing any other information.

A thing happens; we are all hardwired to be the same; we all want the same things. Once we step outside of the box, it can be hard to resist the urge to return to safety.

When we recognize that we can step outside of the box, we can create a space of border less thinking which is unconfined.

That can be where new ideas happen; I am not sure why but new ideas flow when we start to follow and recognize our out of the box selves.

It seems rather simplistic.

What do you think?

Hi Alex,

Getting out of the box can also go hand in hand with adapting and embracing change.

Being in the IT industry for many years, change was constant. Companies outsourcing their IT, IT companies buying each other out. Hardware and software in a constant state of flux.

If you did not change and adapt with the times you were left behind. I watched this happen to some co-workers who just couldn't get out of that box.

Thanks for the great article. I enjoyed it.

Michael

Hi, Michael thank you for sharing your experiences.

from observation the IT industry can be brutal at times and as you say at the cutting edge of change.

You have done well to navigating your way through it all.

I think that is something that can stalk us all it can be a case of adapting or being left behind. We are in a good place to stay up with the field.

Alex

From what I am reading we are going to have to. I am going along the way I have been taught but pay attention to what I have been reading so when I see something not working I know how to adapt and keep on trucking. I have not come this far to quit.

I took the lid off my box. No more excuses for not being able to get outside of it.
A complex subject matter made simple, thank you Alex.

Hi Twack, one of the things that the majority of us do is to complicate things where there is no need to.

People think in terms of getting out of their comfort zones without defining what exactly it is that they are getting out of.

It can be a straightforward process, we can develop a routine around it in order to create.

Thank you for stopping by, much appreciated.

Alex

Hi Alex, great post. It is sometimes hard getting out of the box, similar to stepping out of the comfort zone. We have to though, if we want to gain success.
Thank you for sharing,
Michael

Hi Michael,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. So true we do have to shift it up a gear to create the positive outcomes that we are seeking.

Alex

As always Alex, fantastic post. Yes, it can be scary out of the box, but that’s where the action is!
Thanks

Hi Joe, I have to agree 100%, that is indeed where it all happens.

In the beginning, it can take time to build that confidence, once there only one way to go.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Ale

I love working outside of the box. It makes for a very interesting life. It hasn't always worked for me but it has always given me hope. Jim

That is awesome Jim,

It can be challenging to say the least when we become aware we can kind of manage the various situations as they arise.

Continued learning and exposure to new knowledge can make a huge difference.

Thank you.

Alex

Comfort zone and cruise control are crucial for a healthy balance...

Hi Fleeky

You are not far wrong there, finding that space, where we can work at our optimum, can certainly set the stage right.

Thank you for stopping by.

Alex.

Thanks for the great post.I have trouble with this as well. Before i thought i was imposible now i believe it is.But in my case i still lack the required "modules" to move on since my mindset pulls with the force of a wormholle each time i make that push outside.it isnt easy but as i see now going back i sometimes a step to move forward.ill make a blog soon about this thanks for the inspiration.
And greets from your Croatian friend .Dario

Hi Dario,

Good to see you and it is also good that you are still involved.

There is that saying sometimes we need to take several steps back in order to take many steps forward.

Becoming aware of how we operate can make a huge difference in our mindset and perspectives.

Look forward to reading your blog.

Keep rolling.

Thank you for stopping by.

Alex

Anytime

Alex, this is a GREAT post. 👍

You put a lot into this. I am in agreement, that a lot of people are stuck in their comfort zone, and are challenged with trying new things.

Thinking outside of our current mindset, is vital to success. We need to expand our belief in possibilities.

Meditation is a good way to clear the mind from limitations.

Rather than thinking “outside” of the box, how about thinking “without” a box.

“In an infinite realm of possibility, is the possibility of the impossible.”

Don’t go there.

Free your mind‼️

Hi Brad,

Thank you for your thoughtful response.

We are all at different points, and through continued learning, we can expand the possibilities.

Alex
