Before someone else does, which then leaves you out in the cold.

Once, you become immersed in the online marketing world ideas can just pop into your head seemingly on a random basis. As our knowledge and skill sets increase it is just a natural progression, you can go from " the observer to the doer to the know'er "

If it thinks like a marketer, walks like a marketer, talks like a marketer, laughs like a marketer, sells and promotes like a marketer then the probability is pretty high that it is a marketer.

It is just getting to that jump zone where we can step up and clam the mantle.

Most things incubate as that idea, before they get that breath of life, in the online world, the thing about domain names as they can stay in that incubation phase until the time is right.

When the time is right then it is all systems ago, using the Site Rubix platform to create that website is such a streamlined and straightforward process.

Dare I say it, so easy and so fast.

I see so many really good domain names on my travels, especially siterubix .com's which as we know are unique to Wealthy Affiliate.

As we know they can be shifted to a premium extension.

That's if the premium extension is still available, someone may have beaten you to the draw, it does happen and more times than you would think.

So always bear that one in mind, purchasing domains through WA is so easy and keeping things in-house can work wonders for your productivity.

Just a thought especially if your idea seems like the best one you have had for a while then go premium on that domain name purchase your own. Even if you are just starting out using a domain created using Site Rubix, that domain you own just opens the opportunity doors.

For the small investment that it costs we should buy it;

Like yesterday, because today may be too late.

Down the track, if it is sitting on the shelf you can always sell that domain name it and in doing so there may just be a pleasant surprise in store for you.

If your own name is available, add it to the cart, on the way out the door. Once, again you may not use it straight out of the gates better to be in your stable as opposed to someone else's.

I guess we all have this sense that maybe the mold was broken when we arrived, unfortunately, that is not the case, we are all working and creating that online presence.

Strangely enough, there may be another six of you with the same idea, and only one of you with the foresight to claim their name.

I am not promoting going out and buying a million domain names, it can get really expensive when it comes time to renew them, think about it and if you are doing this long-term then get straight to the shop.

Thanks for reading.

What are your thoughts on this?

Foot Note,

Just to clarify some issues;

If you create a domain and website in the Site Rubix platform using a Site Rubix subdomain, eg

the greatest websiteonplanet earth.siterubix .com

Then that domain will be attached to your account, while in use no one else will be able to register the same domain name.

The key point is that in the wider online world it does not mean that this domain name is secure, eg

the greatest websiteonplanet earth .com

If it is not purchased then it is on the open market and may be purchased at any time. So when we are starting out we may be on Siterubix , the whole point of this post is to make folks aware that if we want to shift our website onto your own domain name then we should purchase the premium domain name in order to secure our position.

Especially if you are creating a website in a competitive niche. Once brought, you own it and no one else can register that domain name.

That = security

Very good advice, Alex. I believe this is a post to be shared to help new members using Siterubix understand the importance of securing their domains. I can't imagine experiencing the loss of a domain name after time and effort spent on building a website, together with the dedication of creating content.

Hi Valerie, so true, it takes so little time to register a domain name and it does secure our future endeavors. Even folks that have those good ideas and have been involved for a while can be slow off the mark and pay the price.

Thank you for your thoughtful response Valerie, much appreciated.

My pleasure, Alex.
Thank you.

I agree with you Alex. Domain names are there for anyone to claim.

Personally, even if I were only doing a temporary site in site rubix I would want to make sure the full domain was available before I started, and if it were a good name I would claim it before someone else got the chance.

Many a domain name can be lost by hesitation.

Derek

Hi Derek,
Thank you for your response, that is an excellent strategy, it is so easy to set up a Site Rubix domain, that we can forget to look further down the track.

Unfortunately when folks do the opportunity to upgrade may be gone,

Thank you for sharing Derek very helpful.

Good read and pointers. J

Glad that you enjoyed, the post Jay, hopefully some good for thought.

Thank you

Hi Charlene you are most welcome, how is your journey going.

Hey Alex,
Thank for sharing!!! Yes domains are important and cost so very little here at WA!!

Tried and True

Elaine

Hi, Elaine, that is certainly true, the process for purchasing domains through WA is pretty streamlined and efficient.

What we get is real value for money and just adds to the whole membership package here in WA.

That is the key point it is a small investment to secure our futures.

Thank you for sharing Elaine.

Great post, Alex.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

Most of us have more than one good idea that we would like to share with the World.

With that being said, while we are working diligently on our 'main' concept, it is not a bad idea to scoop up a few more domains and write to them slowly but surely over time.

Scooping up your 'own name' is also a very good idea. This site could be your 'memoir' or a dedication for example to a loved one that is no longer with us.

You no longer have to write a book in the traditional sense. A website takes care of that quite sufficiently. The possibilities are endless.

Regards from Canada.

Paul.

That was well said, Paul, thank you for joining the conversation.

The internet opens up so many possibilities and the amazing thing is that for a small investment we can secure things for when the time is right.

You are absolutely correct.
Have a great day, Alex.

Paul.

Different slant Alex. I notice you have the toy gun image. It's the only one you can find in site content images. WA is a kind and gentle place!

Classic Mike and true, WA is a kind place. Searching for images can come down to the key words used, in metaphor missing that domain name can be like shooting yourself in the foot.

Good one Alex. LOL!

I just about " out cleavered " my self with that one Mike.

Good point, Alex! My problem is far different from Sharlee's. I have trouble coming up with names. Maybe I should check with her for ideas!!! Thanks for sharing:)
Blessings:)
Suzi

Hi Suzi

LOL - I don't think I've got such great ideas though! It is more a case of can't make up my mind whether it should be single or plural - then I buy both.

I then build my website on one (i.e. on the single), and forward the plural website name to it.

The other day there was a post here on WA, about a website that is the plural of WA - thus, WealthyAffiliateS.com (with an S on the end) and apparently it is not such a great website. So since then I'm even more paranoiac about registering both versions of a domain name.

So I'm afraid I won't be of much help, Suzi! ;-) I wish I could - then I could probably have helped myself as wel! ;-) LOL! So mayby you're not that bad after all! ;-) LOL!

Wishing you much success!
Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hi Suzi, jump on Jaaxy and have a play around it is one of my go to's.
I also find getting on the WA domain page is also helpful and seem to get some really good ideas from there as well. if you use it like a search engine there will be a list of results even if the desired domain name is taken.

Thank you for stopping by I think that you are not alone many folks struggle to come up with that memorable domain name. I know that I did, now I actually really enjoy that aspect.

Thank you, Alex:) I'm glad you like the creative aspect of choosing a domain name:) That is not one of my favorites. I like blogging, however:) Go figure!
Blessings:)
Suzi

You're too funny, Sharlee! I wish you guys much success, as well:)
Blessings:)
Suzi

Hi Alex

I already have many domain names... whether they are that good... well, uhm, that is probably an entirely different story. ;-)

Thank you for a well-written post!

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

Hi Sharlee, so you have a slight case of online marketers syndrome, I think it comes with the territory, see a great domain or get that flash of genius and we just have to register it, just in case.

You may be quite surprised, the test is if we come to sell some of them. I am continually surprised at what sells and the eye-watering prices that are paid for domains that looked for all purposes like planes without wings.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts Sharlee.

Hi Alex

LOL - Urgh - at least you've seemed to have succeeded at a diagnosis... "a slight case of online marketers syndrome". [swipe forehead] I'm thankful it is only "a slight case"! ;-) Is there any medicine that helps for that 'syndrome'? ;-) LOL!

[naughty grin] Or do you think enough ice cream would be able to provide relief for the symptoms? ;-)

Sharlee (Chocolate IceCream)

I think if you come up with a really awesome domain name and you can buy it- I would and have and will again. It is an investment after all but yes Alex you must be able to afford the renew
Thanks for the share
Vicki

Well said, Vicki, it can be about being quick off the mark sometimes, there can be a lot of factors involved for sure.

A strategy can be of real benefit if we are collecting, sell or hold, like all investments they are only of value if we keep our eye on the ball.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Vicki much appreciated.

always good to connect Alex
