WA - My Experience and Writing The First Blog!
While researching on the net and learning different things about affiliate marketing I ended up with such a serious case of information overload. For a few weeks, I even gave up altogether.
When I resumed my internet activity, and as I sifted through yet more information and watched yet more YouTube videos, the sense of helplessness came over me.
I learned so so much but had no idea how to actually put it to work or in what order.
WHAT COMES FIRST?
This actually bothered me a lot. I love to study and am quite good at finding the information. But, when you are new at something, besides of the new things you learn, you also learn how little you know. As discouraging as this might sound, it is actually a great thing, because it takes you out of your comfort zone and in a good way forces you to seek guidance and mentorship.
SO I DID!
I finally decided to seek that guidance, in a form of a course and from the good people who have the knowledge in the subject I needed to study!
Also, hopefully learning from the people who have methodically put their knowledge into some sort of format that is accessible and possible to follow by an absolute beginner (brimming with enthusiasm). In short - me!
WEALTHY AFFILIATES
I came across WA website, and was impressed from the start! Everything I was looking for in one place! How lucky was that?!? Well, in my case, as I was come to discover, very lucky indeed!
I took the advantage of ONE WEEK FREE INTRODUCTORY PERIOD, to test drive the course. It was fantastic!
THE FOG STARTED LIFTING...
...and I started not only learning from the Lesson One but immediately implementing what I have learned! Wow! What a relief!
The first night in months, I didn't go to bed with a heavy burden of acquired knowledge I didn't know what to do with.
Now, I was sure, I had an opportunity to learn how to put my knowledge into action and a good action too! How about, starting to build my own website (aaaaaaaa!! happiness!!) within the first five lessons!??! Just amazing!
I WAS HERE TO STAY!
After my first week of FREE MEMBERSHIP ran out, I did sign up to stay. The first month, conveniently, is greatly reduced by 60%!
That discount came in really handy too - I am at the moment struggling with my finances so it made it easier for me to budget for my first month and allocate funds for the following months when I shall be paying the full fee.
All in all, the rest of my life was ready to begin!
THE WA COURSE
The first six lessons were a breeze.
And THEN, the dreaded moment, that was lurking behind the corner and could not be put off anymore, arrived - writing our first blog! HELP! Normally, I would break out in cold sweat if I had to write a postcard, and even my FB posts are the worlds' shortest (usually just a picture and a smiley!). How, on earth was I supposed to produce a 1000 words on anything?
Well, the sought out help came. In a form of a training, guidance, good advice and encouragement! And a plan, template, a strategy how to start and more importantly, to continue!
My doubt in my writing skills did remain though. If you can't write, you can't write, right? Wrong!
Just like with anything in life, you don't need me to tell you this, just about everything needs practice, but more importantly, it needs that first step. Honestly, if you don't make that first leap of faith, you sure as anything won't make the second... and the third...and get to your desired destination.
So, I sat down and started adding a sentence to sentence, like making a necklace out of words and building the story one small step at the time. That was the thing that did it for me - not putting any pressure on myself to write more than a few sentences at a time.
Also, you find, all the books and everything else you've ever read and experienced, stay somewhere in your mind, and as you start writing, makes its way onto the page. It is amazing! Surprising and delightful, gets you feeling proud of yourself so much!
Would just like to add, writing straight to your computer, definitely saves time, but if you find writing the old fashion way, in the notebook first (like I did this article) and then type it out, easier, that is fine too. Do whatever you need to do to get those first 1000 words of content on your site. Content is important, everything else, less so!
Once, you have written your first blog, you will, for sure, know that you can do it and there is no going back to the land of 'I can't write'! You have written one, you can write a hundred! Make it your own, mistakes and all, there will be plenty of time for corrections. The most important thing is, you actually have something to correct. It really does not need to be perfect the first time around.
Striving for perfection, I find, is often the number one thing that paralyzes us in our steps and prevents us from even trying. Don't get me wrong, I think perfection is great, it's just that it is an acquired skill rather than an instant achievement. And, everyone' perception of perfection varies so vastly, I really wouldn't bother thinking about it too much!
