My First, First Page Google Ranking!

Hello dear WA friends!

I joined WA around seven months ago, without any (really, truly a.n.y.) knowledge of affiliate/internet marketing.

After the Certification course, my first website turned out to be in the niche that wasn't for me.

It's a mom blog. And, as much as I love being a mom to my children, writing about it was a chore.

I wrote only around 20 posts for that site, but if I'm being honest, they are not that good. I can see that now. So, don't think any of them ever ranked on Google Page 1.

Did I Sit Around and Mope? Nope!

To cut a long story short, I abandoned my first site (for the time being) and turned my efforts to doing the Bootcamp Course and building a new, MMO niche website.

Finally, something I actually enjoyed writing about!

That site is only two months old, and it's not even finished yet.

I am building it myself with Divi Builder that I also learned and continue to learn, how to use, so everything is taking a bit longer.

I know, maybe I should just get on with writing even more content, but learning how to design a site and use a tool like Divi Builder is giving me a new skill, and that's also good.

So, I was surprised to see I'm getting some organic traffic already. Very small amount, but still, can't believe Google sends anyone to such new sites.

I haven't started doing any social media as yet, but will soon.

My new site has 25 posts. The average word count for the post is about 1500 words, but I do have a couple shorter ones too (around 1100 words).

I've been publishing daily this month, and intend to continue publishing a post every day at least until end of May, and hopefully beyond, too. I'm getting better at it, I think...

In this post I wanted to share my joy that one of my posts on my new site is ranked on Google Page 1, position 4!

I am super-happy about it and encouraged to continue what I'm doing!

Thank you to everyone who has helped me with their kind and helpful advice.

Just like to say, if you do go to visit my site, you will notice some things that are 'in progress'.

I am working on it....

A Word About Chosing Your Niche and Your First Website for Those Who Are New to WA

For those who have just joined, and are wondering if they've chosen the right niche - no need to worry, you can always change and do another site that will be more suitable to your interests.

However, if you don't start with at least one site, you'll never know what suits you and what doesn't!

Go for it! :)

Hope you've enjoyed reading this post.

Have you ever abandoned one of your sites because you lost interest, or for any other reason?

Was it a good decision?

Thank you all and have a great day/evening!

Best,

Alenka

Kaju! Thank you so much, and thank you for commenting!
I see how busy you are with your many projects, so truly appreciate your being here.

It's a small win, but hugely encouraging for me, because it seemed like I was stuck in one place for a while.
However, nothing to get you out of that one place but hard work, and continuing to learn every day.

Greetings from the Balkans!

I'm thinking of abandoning my first site since I feel like researching and writing is more suited for me but I still love my first site. Somehow, I find myself going back to it whenever an idea pops out.

So, I'm not sure what to do, maybe I'll continue or leave it for now.

Hi Eli

Thanks for your comment.

Yeah, you don't have to abandon it forever. Sometimes a fresh outlook you get from working on another project will bring you more ideas for the site you thought you were tired of.

That is how I think of my mom blog. I will get back to it, but with a different strategy and different sort of content. I'm learning new things every day so that will help with everything.

Best of luck with your site(s)!

Alenka :)

Awesome!! Congratulations Alenka!

Thank you very much!

Congratulations Alenka.

Derek

Thank you, Derek.

Wow congratulations. I am heading towards 3 months and finding content writing a bit difficult because my niche requires alot of research. The first couple of posts came along without too much trouble but now the effort to fill around 1000 plus words on a page I am finding it to be quite hard sometimes. I’m trying to find a process to help me with doing this and to make writing a little bit easier.

Hi Ingrid

Thanks so much for your comment.

Yes, content writing can be laborious at times. We all feel like that sometime.
The trick is to do it anyway. I know, easier said than done. However, the more you do it the easier it'll get.

What's your niche?
Have you tried maybe to do lists posts? 10 or 5 best of's work really well, and it's easy to write 200-300 words on each subject/product/service. That way you can have a longer post faster and somewhat easier.

Also, dividing a post into sections is a lifesaver for me. It removes the immediate panic of "what am I going to write about???"

I do something like this:

Intro 200w
Something about the product/service/subject 300w
How does it work? 200w
How it will help/not help the reader? 300w
What is my experience/impression of it? 200w
Conclusion 200w

The word counts are not exact of course, but that is what I aim for.

I find it much easier to think in term of 2-300 words than in 1000s.

Hope this helps a little...

Best of luck with your site!

Alenka :)

Congratulations, Alenka.
Best regards,
Maxine

Thank you so much, Maxine!
:)

You're welcome, Alenka.
Maxine

Congratulations!!!
Great advice about starting out and getting going, even if your first site is not going to end up being your long term niche. What you learn as you struggle to set up your first site, will only serve to make the second one even better.
The process works, and when you find your match niche or niche match... well, today you gave some proof. Google magic.
Thanks for the encouragement, happy posting.

Hello

Thanks so much for your comment.

Yes, you are so right, the things you learn while doing the first site are so valuable. And, as a result, the other sites can only benefit from the time and effort spent earlier.

I come to realize, every day more and more, that taking action, is one of the most important things in life.
Or in regard to being on Wealthy Affiliate - doing the courses, creating websites, writing content...taking action every day will bring results.

Everyone has their own timeline, but with the right attitude and a great deal of work, things will fall into place, I am certain of that.

Best of luck with your site!

Have a great evening,

Alenka

Wow! Congratulations on this great news!

Yes, we had to abandon our first site which we knew tons about but we made the niche too broad (and finally had to admit it to ourselves before we went too far). It is now on the backburner and we know how we will proceed with it in the future.

Started another niche, have learned much more, and are confident of results in the near future.

Glen B. always talks about posting every day, and we are aiming for that as well. Looks like he is right as it is working for you.
Great job! Do your happy dance!

Colette and Philip

Hi and thank for your kind words.

A happy dance was danced, I can assure you! I even cried a little hehehhehe

Glad you had to courage to cut your losses and get on with the second site.

I lost a couple of months just feeling guilty and not wanting to seem inconsistent. But, what's the use of sticking with a website if you can't bring any value to anyone?
So, I wish I did it earlier, but still glad about starting my second site.

Yes, publishing daily is amazing. You also get better and faster at doing the research and the writing.

Wishing you super-success with your sites!

:)
