The Avocado Tree And My Website, a story about an idea, time, good work and persistence.

Hi everyone!

You might wonder why I want to write about an avocado tree and my website, so let me tell you a story about my avocado tree!

Many people have discovered the benefits of eating avocado around the world, being Mexican I can tell you I've been having them in almost every meal since I was a young girl.

The avocado plant is original from Mexico and Aztecs knew well this fruit (yes it's a fruit, but most people eat it as a vegetable) and they knew about the benefits of eating it.

This post is not about the benefits of having it or some recipies about it.

When I moved to live in Canada a few years ago, I started to grow my own garden during Summer and I and my husband started to grow our own vegetables in our backyard.

I don't remember how or why, we started to get some avocado from the grocery store and we might have talked about avocados only growing in a tropical climate, so we wondered if we could grow our own avocado tree.

We looked for some information on the internet - the same way you might looked for some information about how to create your own website - and we found the information about putting the avocado seed in a glass with water.

We had a few fails - The same happened to me with a few blogs -

But we keep at it - Yes, I never stopped blogging even after poor results

One day my husband put one avocado seed right in the garden in a warm Summer day - One day I signed up to Wealthy Affiliate.

Two months after my husband planted the seed in the garden, he came to tell me, "Hey, I think we have an avocado tree growing in the garden", yes it was a tiny avocado tree growing well in the middle of the garden! - The same will happen with a website, as you keep writing content, it will start growing small.

That year, when the weather started to get cooler, we decided to plant the avocado tree in a good size pot and bring it inside, we keep it indoors all winter and I watered it once or twice every week, I keep the plant near a window so it gets some light from the sun.

The same will happen with a website, you need to keep it under your eyes, write content and look for the best Social Media platform so it can be seen by your audience.

To make this story short, the avocado tree is already 4 or 5 years old, and it's not the first one, it's the second one we planted, as the first one died on its second year, but we didn't stop planting avocado seeds in the garden as we found it was better than using the glass with water.

The same thing will happen with a website, some people will tell you to start your website with this or than platform, but I've found when you create a website with Wealthy Affiliate, it will grow better.

Today our avocado tree is a beautiful 3 foot tall tree, still young, and we have two more trees, younger and they look to be doing well.

As the weather warms up a little, I will take them out so they can get all the sunshine they need.

It's crazy you might think - growing avocados trees in Canada!!

I have had some questions from people who get to know than I have my avocado tree here?

  • How tall an avocado tree can be? - It can be taller than a house
  • Are you going to plant it in your backyard? - No I will keep it on a flower pot as a Bonsai tree
  • Can you get some avocados from it keeping it in a flower pot ? - Yes, it can happen
  • When is it going to start giving avocados? - I have no idea. It can take a few more years to start giving avocados.
  • How big the avocados will be if you keep the tree small? - The avocados will be the normal size.

As I get more information on the internet about how to grow an avocado tree, I got to know than an avocado tree needs time to grow and start producing avocados, - The same think about a website, you might need to keep working on your website for one, two or many more years before it starts to make money for you.

Some information say some trees will never give any fruit, because of its flowers, flowers in one tree can be all females or all males, sometimes you can have both in one tree.

But female flowers open in the morning and male flowers open in the afternoon, Ha, so than's why avocados are expensive!

If you get lucky, there can be a rebel flower, female or male than behaves as it please, opening whenever they want - and voila the magic happens! You get some fruits from than tree.

As I read more about the information for growing this tree, it made me think about any website.

  • It will need to know how to do it
  • It will need you work on your website almost everyday
  • You need to read and study about how to do it
  • You will need to start one, and it might fail, then create the second one
  • It can give you some hard times to figure out why it doesn't make money for you!
  • It can take one, two, and even more years to start making money for you!
  • But when it starts making money for you, it won't stop!

To end this story, some avocados trees take 5 to 15 years to start producing fruits.

As far as I know, people in Mexico know well than planting this tree is a good way to make money from them.

People who plant these trees as a business put a lot of money to grow an avocado orchard, but they know it will take a few years before they make money from it, but once trees start producing fruits, they will have enough money to support their families for years.

The same will happen with your website, learn how to do it, work on it no matter how long it takes you to do it right, if you fail on your first ones, don't give up, keep at it,

One day you will see your good work starts to work the way it should be!

Thanks for reading my story today!

I'm happy to see my avocado tree growing good as my website is growing good and starts to get more traffic!

I'll keep you posted if the avocado tree started producing some fruits this year or not and I will also share some more news about my website.

Alejandra!

I enjoyed the read, Alejandra. Thanks.

I have 2 avocado tree. A smaller one in a pot and another on the ground. It has been 4 years nows. Waiting for it to produce fruits but it does not matter if it takes longer. Just enjoy the greenery.

Just like my website. It may not be generating much income but just enjoy the online journey.

You have a beautiful day!
Sharon

I got one to root in the water but it didn’t do well. I also did one in soil in a pot outside and brought it in during winter. It did well for a couple of years, then died. I think I left it outside too late in the fall. I’m going to try again this year. Just like I’m trying to get back to being active here and work on my knowledge through WA.
For me, you couldn’t have used a better analogy Alejandra.
You’re doing great and inspiring us all!

Blessings,

Debby

Hey Alexandra, that's a great analogy.
So many people give up just before they even give this thing (online marketing) a real chance to propogate and then proliferate.
Keep up the good work!
Mark

What a great post and so very true about our websites

Good afternoon Alejandra,

I absolutely love avocados and have 4 trees on my farm. 2 years ago I had Senor Juan come and he gave each tree a professional trimming.
I use avocados in different recipes and also have them in a sweet recipe.
I am happy your trees are doing well. I just wonder if the trees are kept small can the little branch stand the weight of a full-grown avocado?
Great to hear you are advancing so well with your website.
I hope you had a good Easter Sunday. Greetings from the south of Spain,

Taetske
