Is This A Good Keyword To Write A New Post?

Hello everyone, hope you're all doing good and keep working on your website (s)!

As you might well know, our job is to find the best keywords to write new content, is a task that we need to spend lots of time on and it will improve as we keep working to write more content for our websites.

But this task is not as simple or easy as we all wish it was, including me. To be honest, I have a good number of wrong keyword posts, and most of them get zero traffic and might not be good at all ever!

I must add, this is something that we all might need to face and get used to, you might need to write a good number of posts to write one that will work great and get tons of traffic to your website.

The best tips here would be, never stop, go for it, and you will get better as you keep searching for new keywords.

Today I want to share with you that I might have found a good keyword, and I though it was useless to go for it!

This website is my website written in my mother tongue (Spanish), I started working on it 5 years ago, I must say I had little idea about how to write good content and I never paid attention at the beginning to keywords, so I must say the first 50 posts are just not good enough to drive some traffic to this website.

But there was one post I made about 4 years ago, that turned out to become the unicorn of this website.

From the beginning it ranked well and it stayed ranking as number 1 post to drive traffic to this website.

It was a tutorial about something I made for my new grand-daugther, How To make A Baby Dress, but it was something not related to my niche.

As this post ranked and worked very well week after week, put me on a position where I had serious thoughts about if I was in the wrong niche or not.

I watched this post ranking on position 1 on google Analytics week after week, but I kept myself loyal to my niche.

I Can't Believe I Wrote A New Unicorn Post For My Website

As part of my work on this website, I was looking for new keywords to write during the month of October.

I thought about writing a new tutorial about "How To Make Some Christmas Ornaments"

Let's take a look to that keyword:

  • So many websites already have it!
  • So ordinary!
  • So close to Christmas!

And I could add some more thoughts about that keyword was not good at all.

But as I didn't have any other keyword to write a new post for this website, my thought about it was this:

  • Oh well, I write it and maybe in a year, this keyword will be ranking good and it will drive some traffic.

So I wrote this new post, with a new video for my YouTube channel.

I published this new post the last day of October.

I follow the WA training, so I did everything on the list

  • SEO on page
  • Interlinking
  • External linking
  • My own images
  • Shared this post on Facebook, Pinterest and Keen

Today, just about 5 weeks later, this post is doing better than the Unicorn post!!

I noticed this post was getting a good number of traffic to my website from week 2!

Here are the numbers:

  • 681 visits on Google Analitics
  • 350 views on YouTube

With these numbers you can see this post is ranking # 1 on page 1 on Google after Pinterest and after youtube videos.

(I must say that the first YouTube video on Google Page 1 is mine )

So this new post is ranking and working good just 5 weeks after I published it!

The Bad About This Post:

This post is seasonal, Christmas, so it might work not as good after the Holidays.

But, oh well, I will need to wait and see what happens!

My Lesson: Always add the "Long Tail Keyword"

  • Sometimes a keyword can look like it is not good enough to go for.
  • Always add the "long tail keyword"
  • Always write that post you have on your list, it might become a unicorn!

I must admit, I'm surprised by these good results from a keyword that many websites might already have, but as it keeps working good for my website, that is so cool!

The key to write a successful website is to keep writing new content, learn more about your audience and help them, don't sell all the time, they will love your website and then you'll be doing some business!

Hope this blog helps you to keep motivated and keep writing more content for your website.

Keep at it!

Thank you for posting this article and explaining what you did.
Congratulations on the unicorn post and on the new post that you have written. It is heartening to know that even in what appears to be a saturated niche (with in content and current time) content will rank if it is done correctly.
