How To Write A Post To Rank On Page 1, and get tons of traffic!

Hello everyone!

Hope you're all doing well, and keep working on your websites.

As today is the last day of the month, I like to take some time to take a look on how I did, and this time I am saying "how I did" and not how my website did.

At the beginning of the month, I was wondering what to do better as an affiliate marketer or writing my website.

This month started slow, and I'm afraid I was feeling a little down, and I guess this might happen to some of you, as some websites take longer to do better.

One day, I got the feeling I should pay more attention to what I was doing wrong, so I decided to spend one or two days (to tell you the truth, it was more than two days), reading my competitors websites and other bloggers who talk about how to write content for your website.

I made a list of what to do and what to stop doing, and I wrote a couple of posts, then I published them and waited a couple of days.

When I checked on these two posts, they were doing better than all the previous content on this website, so I decided to write a few more posts... today I'm happy to say, these all latest post on this website are ranking good and most of them are on page one.

I know the traffic on this website has been doing a little better the last 3 weeks, and it looks like it's getting more traffic, I could say like 60 to 75% more.

The traffic is still low on this website if I compare the traffic from my competition, but when you're working on your own website and you see your traffic going from 20 visits per day to 40 or 45, that means your website traffic is better, and this is happening in the same month, so I could say, as these new posts mature in time, they might get more traffic.

How To Write A Post To Rank On Page 1 On Any Niche.

There's nothing new to add here, there is not a magic potion, and everything is on the WA training.

1. Find A Long Tail Keyword

What I did different here was to find a keyword with low competition, by this it means to find one that nobody has written a post on it yet.

If you look for your keywords on Google, some questions on forums, Pinterest, or even YouTube, but no main websites on your niche, that means it will rank good and fast.

I know, you might think your keyword is too good, and you might be a good writer and beat those big website who already wrote a post, you can do this if your website is big and strong enough, but when you're just starting, write down these keywords to do them later, stay safe for the moment.

2. Write The Answer To Help Your Audience

Some posts will be written with 1000 + words and some need to be as short as they need to be.

Don't write too many words just because your post need to be long to beat the big websites.

Focus on helping your audience, people have less time today, they want to find the answer fast and go.

I know, it's hard to stop writing more on a post, but it works.

3. Get Your Own Images

Get your own images, pictures or photos for your website, it will make the difference.

I stop using images from the free stock websites and I started to get my own pictures.

Test, test, and test!

I had to do some online short courses to learn more about photography: light, color, layout, and I must say I'm not the best at it, but at least I can say my website has pictures nobody else has.

4. Work On Topics

Work on topics of 4, 6, 10, 20 posts about the same topic, so Google understand what it is about, and your website will rank better.

When you write a post about this, and then two posts about that, Google will have some problems to know what your website is about, but when you write about one topic, it will be easy to know what your website is about.

5. Learn From Your Competition and Stop Comparing

Your competition is there because they have learned how to do it, they will teach you many things without the need to take an online course to share their secrets with you.

When you're a beginner, this step might not be easy for you, but pay attention on how they write their titles, the introduction and what type of post they have in their website.

Read their website and find keywords they haven't written yet, and this might look impossible to do, as these big websites used to have over 1000 or more posts already written, but believe me, there's still some keywords free for you.

Closing

Start writing your new post, believe you can do it, and then start writing the second new post for your website, and keep at it.

You are here at WA and there is new training to help you to work on your website, and if you follow the training, you will see your website growing good.

Don't expect to write 10 post for your website and get tons of traffic and money from it, your website needs tons of good work.

Hope you get some help from this post, if you have any question, leave it on a comment, I'll be happy to reply to you.

Have a great day and keep at it!

Alejandra.

Some very good advice, Alejandra.
Thanks for sharing.

Valerie

Very interesting ideas about writing content that ranks.

Thank you.

Alex

i thank you Alex.

I liked your insights as some of them were non-intuitive. When you recommended focusing on one topic for a bunch of posts I assumed all the topics are on one category within the website niche. Is that what you meant?

Thanks.

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

Yes, when I said to focus on a topic and write a bunch of posts, these all posts will go in the same category.
Let’s say, I’m working on a food website, and one category is soups. But in this category, I can talk about Chicken Soups, so I can share posts about: Grandma Chicken Soup, Mexican Chicken Soup, best part of the chicken to make a soup, Chicken soup basic recipe, and I would list more posts like this.

Next month I could go to a different category like salads, or I could stay in the same category, but I will be writing a group of post about Soups for vegetarians, or Soups for young children.

Working on one topic at a time on a website will help you to never get short of ideas to keep writing a post.

Thanks for leaving a question.

Alejandra.

Great minds think alike. That’s the approach Jay used in his 14-Day series when researching Keywords. He showed how one Keyword could spawn 6 related posts or more.

This line of thinking has been a validation for what I’ve been doing for my current series of posts. They’re all reviews of MLM companies. Would you say I’m following your guidelines with this approach?

In the MMO field I’ve found that my posts on MLM companies have got the most views. Others in the MMO niche said this too.

When I was green, I thought the best approach was to vary the category between posts. Glad I saw the light.

Here’s another advantage. One can use the same template for articles on the same category. Speeds up writing.

Thanks for this interchange Alejandra.

Cheers!

Edwin

Hi Edwin

Yes, I also like to try some different blog post ideas when I start working on a website, then I can take a look to what posts are getting more traffic, so I can create more content on that topic, this way I can learn what my audience is looking for and I also check if there is more opportunity to rank good on that topic, (find some questions nobody has answer yet or just a few bloggers are on it).

Using a template for writing your arcles is a way to go and it will help you to create more posts faster.

I also thank you, we all learn from each other.

Cheers!

Alejandra
