Learning The Hard Way!

Last Update: November 15, 2018

Well this year has certainly been a year of major changes and deep reflection for me.

I turned 60 back in April, the long term contracts that I had looking after and managing some local clients websites have finally come to an end and I've just enjoyed the whole of the summer focused on spending some quality time with my wife and twin daughters.

I have to say it's been absolutely marvelous and I've enjoyed my well-deserved rest but, it's also been a time of deep reflection and there have been a few hard lessons learned along the way.

During my long summer break we got invited to quite a few barbecues and I had the opportunity to dust off my old guitar, play a few of my favorite songs, tell some jokes, share a few beers and bring a bit of joy into the lives of every person that I come into contact with but......

The downside of all this time off and endless poolside parties is that I didn't do a lot of work on my sites which had an adverse effect to my traffic and rankings.

The lesson learned and the one I want to share is that if you're in a very focused micro-niche without a lot of competition then you can afford to take some time off now and then to enjoy life and it won't affect your traffic, rank or earnings too much but if you're promoting WA or any other highly competitive niche you need to add unique, quality content on a regular basis or you will disappear from page one of Google very quickly!

I won't be making Vegas this year but I'm hoping to be there for the next one!

Well, nothing much to describe.
Except for the SEO part which is blocking the traffic flow.

What do you mean "Blocking the traffic flow" ?

I mean - I must work on the glitches that hinder traffic.
Newer sites have already overtaken the marathon.

And lately, I had to go back and improve all my content that look like jokes written when I first started.

The same has happen to me Alan, and I still has to find my way back. And being a Lazy Blogger, that makes it much more difficult. I guess I will see you in Vegas 2020. Thank you for the lesson learned.
