I think the first 100 followers are the hardest to get!

Hello Alan,

That's good, I'm glad you have reached that milestone, how long will it take to get to 200!?

They say the first 100 is the hardest so hopefully it will get easier from now on :)

Hello Alan,

That's interesting, I hope so, I'm not sure if anyone quite knows quite how the YouTube algorithm works. I have one channel which has approximately 420 subscribers and another channel that has 23 subscribers.

The channel with 420 subscribers is seasonal, so, I'm hoping it will take a boost over the next few weeks.

The other channel with 23 subscribers is relatively new and I'm struggling for time to work both channels!

Someone I know who had around 10,000 subscribers, it seemed to take quite a long time for his side subscribers to increase. However, after being stagnant for some time, they appeared to quickly go up to around 12,000 subscribers. It almost seems like it happens in stages, just my own personal view.

Wishing you all the best and a great weekend.

Interesting Roy

Yes the YouTube algorithm is a mystery I'm still learning but using the same keyword research and SEO techniques I use to rank a blog post I've managed to get a few videos in position one of page one especially with my reviews so that's positive.

My problem is that the music niche is very competitive and there's some very professional channels out there to compete with so you really need to have something that sets you apart from all the rest.

There's one lady who can't sing, plays the guitar very badly but she has a chihuahua sitting on her lap and a cat meowing in the background in every video and she has thousands of subscribers and gets thousands of views within five minutes of releasing a new video just because she's unique.

You just have to find an angle that makes you different

Have a great weekend! :)

Thank you for your reply, Alan.

I can imagine the music industry being particularly difficult. Do you play an instrument or are you selling music gear?

I hear you big time, it is really interesting how some channels do so well and are not particularly good and yet they have something unique or different.

I can never understand why videos like unboxing the latest iPhone or the latest Samsung Galaxy get so many views. There is no information on the actual product, just someone unboxing a product!

I think the most important thing is that we start and we just be ourselves, we can add some more quirky things as time goes on.

Enjoy your Sunday.

I've been a professional guitar vocalist all my life so my channel is mainly popular acoustic guitar and country music covers with guitars and string reviews mixed in.

My string reviews are all ranking on the top of page one of YouTube and Google web search and get the most views.

I'm thinking of niching my music covers down and focusing mainly on country music as there's less competition there.

As I build my channel up I'll invest in better recording and mixing equipment to improve my sound and help me compete with the big channels.

I'm doing it more for my own pleasure and to share my music but it's obviously a boost when I get followers and nice comments :)

Have a great Sunday!

Hello Alan,

Thank you for your reply, do you know you you have an amazing gift Alan, I admire anyone who can play a musical instrument.

I used to play in a band in a church, I am by far from the best, although I never felt out of my depth when I was playing. I found the great thing was in a band situation that it moves your progress forward quickly. I also had some decent musicians amongst me that help to move me forward. Unfortunately, I have let my guitar playing slide rather, I used literally try to pick the guitar up twice a day at least, just to try and keep those fingers moving!

I don't know much about country music but I really like a lot of the country stuff, very easy listening. I also like a lot of the country gospel music.

I came across this lady a few weeks ago by mistake, Gabriella Quevedo, what an amazing gift this lady has. It never fails to amaze me the musical gifts that people possess.

Do you have a link to your YouTube channel Alan, you can private message me if you prefer not to put it here, please?

Wishing you all the best with your wonderful gift.

I actually only came across her about six weeks ago purely by accident, I think it may have been a suggested video by YouTube. It's amazing how some people can get their musical instrument to talk or sing!

Thank you for the link Alan, I have subscribed and commented on one of your videos.

Have a great week.
