You don't need to use a plugin for Adsense

Hi Marion,

First, thank you for you tutorials they are quite helpful and I enjoy them.

I had first started using Google Adsense as I thought that was the way to go. It gave me flexibility to put ads in the body of pages and posts and elsewhere but I was unable to save and activate it.

I then started using Easy Adsense which is similar to using the pasting into the widget text area method you describe in your video. It too allowed me to put up to 3 ads in the body of the page or post.

Then I was able to also use the method you use as well as others, that is the ad code in the widget sidebar text box.

Have you every put ads in the body of pages or posts or do you just put them in sidebars? Have you run across anyone that uses either Google Adsense or Easy Adsense?

Thanks!
Albert

I don't like using too many plugins as they can slow down the site's loading time.

When you put Adsense into a widget a new ad shows on every post and page which is relevant to the content or to the visitors browsing habits.

One of the great features of using Adsense in the sidebar or footer is that you just 'set and forget'. You don't need to do any additional work.

Hello,

Thought you already had raised the question...
Anyway: Probably the cause is the Plugin...
When you do your config manually then it should work:

https://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/adsense/VsycVlF6pPc;context-place=topicsearchin/adsense/category$3Agoogle-publisher-plugin$20404$20error

There are a lot of people with the same error and probably this is indeed like the error says: the plugin is not compatible with all themes.

This one describes the process very well and at the end you do the html config manually...

But I still don't get your activation of a page... ;-)

Hope the info helps!

Grtz,
Bert

When I try to save and activate a page on my site with Adsense I get the message "Sorry we were unable to save your configuration. The request to your server returned an unexpe

check with hosting could be permission issue for plugin chmod 777

Why would you use Adsense to activate a page on your site?

I don't understand the benefit...
But probably you will have your reasons.

Which plugin do you use?

Grtz,
Bert

Hi Bert,
I thought that I have to add Google Adsense as a plugin and then I can start having ads appear on my pages and posts. The plug in is the standard Google Adsense plugin that comes from Google.

I answered on your new question

I am pasting in Amazon affiliate links and when I copy them to my page I see extra characters in the front of the actual link. It looks like HTTP://<a href=" is inserted.

Hi Daniel, I followed the training videos and went to Amazon Associates, did a product search and clicked Link. I select the text link and copy it and it has that prefix in it. The support person did follow up with me to tell me about the short links so that's good for me to know.

I would suggest you to install the Amazon Associates Site Stripe. With it you can just normally navigate through the Amazon website and you can generate an afilliate link from any product page. It gives you options to generate a text, image or text+image link, with either normal or short URLs.

Thanks Daniel, much better.

It's not entirely clear what you mean, but I will try to help.

Log in to Google Analytics.

At the top of the page, around the center of the screen, select "Admin."

You will now see three columns: Account, Property, and View, from left to right.

In the right column (View), select "View Settings."

Now you can change the "Website's URL."

Cheers
