Suggestions for Improvement of SiteContent

I have already said here that the first time I used SiteContent I was dissatisfied with its performance and efficiency. Maybe that was natural as using anything for the first time often leads to discomfort.

First impression counts. But this is not the case with SiteContent. After using it for the second time, I’m addicted to it and have used it some 28 times already in less than 3 months. I can’t even imagine writing and publishing my content directly on my blog anymore.

However a few things bother me about SiteContent.

Adding Tags to Posts

You can’t add tags to your posts. This obliges you to edit your post after publishing from the platform. (I wonder if people who have subscribed to the RSS feed can read the post while you’re editing?)

Adding Keywords

My Yoast SEO plugin enables me to add a focus keyword and its synonyms as well as 4 related keywords and their synonyms down the WordPress posting page. This way I don’t lose on keyword volume.

However you can’t even add a single keyword from SiteContent. You also have to edit to do that.

Adding a Feature Image

This also has to be done after posting. However what I like about SiteContent is that it adds all the optimized images you choose to your WordPress’s media library for reuse.

Reviewing Posts

There is no way one can review a post before publishing. This can be important to correct issues before visitors remark them on the site.

Updating of Posts

Most of us began here at WA as complete newbies or with some knowledge. Not being well-versed in what we were doing and eager to succeed, we proceeded without much caution.

So we wrote content without on-page optimization. We also added lots of non-optimized images from the web and our telephones.

Now that we know better, we would want to update those posts. The wish is to do them from SiteContent, especially in terms of replacing the old images with optimized ones from SiteContent.

I know the system here at WA is being constantly improved, so this is not a complaint, but just a reminder. This is a proposal of solutions to problems we face with the platform in the hope that they will be implemented in the next updates.

And you, what problems do you face with using SiteContent? What solutions do you propose for future improvements? Thanks for commenting.

I use Site content for every post, Akoli, and am quite happy to publish it and further edit it, add images etc. Alan.

How do you edit with SiteContent? While publishing or after? Can you tell us how you do it, especially if it is after publishing?

Hi Akoli, I write an outline of my post including all the headers and structure of the article, and most of the words which I initially think of, including keywords. I then publish the post to my chosen website, and choose the option to Edit The Post in Wordpress. I then edit the post further, usually by adding images and videos and optimising the post for SEO using Squirrly. I hope this helps, Alan

I am such a fan of site content. I wouldn't be without it. And the integration with Jaaxy is awesome.

Yes, on eonly has to use SiteContent to see how "addictive" it is.

Thanks for commenting MiaL.

I'm liking it more every time I use it as well and I like your suggestion about using it to edit and update older (newbie) posts.

One thing that I would like to see added would be a choice of font lik there is available in WordPress. At the moment, if one wants to change fonts that can only be done in WordPress.

Two things you may not be awear of. Changes on the website don't happen untill you update it and there is also a spot where you can change a post from "Public" to "Private". You can also change the publication date as well.

Wayne

Hi Wayne,

Sure, the more one uses SiteContent, the more one likes it. How great it would be if it could be used for editing and updating older (newbie) posts.

I like your use of the word newbie posts. That's what they exactly are.

I agree with the suggestion to have a choice of fonts.

A feature enabling us to go back when we make a mistake will also be highly welcomed.

Thanks for commenting.

I did actually use "Site Content" to edit an old post. What I had to do was highlight and copy the old post in WordPress and copied it to a new post in Site Content. Did the editing I wanted to do and then went back and deleted the old content, copied the new and pasted it where the old was. Then I changed the publication date and time, hit the publish button and... done.

It was a bit of a process but in the end, I had a fresh post that was updated and, I think it was written better as well.

Oh, yeah, I was thinking of this without being sure of it.

Thanks for sharing, Wayne.

You're welcome. Here to help if I can.

I agree, adding photos would be easier to put on our page before posting. I have trouble putting my photo in the spot I want on my page/post.

Hi Victorine,

Thanks for commenting.

Can you be explicit about having trouble putting your photo in the spot you want on your page/post?

Maybe we can help you do it.

I have had that trouble on occasion as well, Sandra. It takes a couple of attempts but in the end, I have figured it out.

It can be frustrating. Hopefully, there will be a "fix" for that in the near future.

Wayne

Your welcome, if I want to put a pic in the middle of page or off to the side, I cant get it to go, the pic goes where it wants.
Thank you for the feed back
Sandra

You lost me on adding Keywords. What do you mean by that? And tags aren't really important for anything other than user experience which really doesn't affect that at all.

However, I wish that we could update a post or page through site content after publishing.

My Yoast SEO premium enables me to add Keywords under the posting page as you can see from the screenshots. It even allows you to add a focus keyword and its synonyms and 4 related keywords and their synonyms. This way you don't lose on keyword volume.

Yes, ability to update a post or page through site content after publishing is verydear to our hearts. I hope the WA owners take that up in future updates.

Thanks for your comments, Shannon.

I agree that it would be nice if the post was uploaded to your site in draft mode to all it to be tweaked prior to the final publication.

Yeah, that'sthe idea JBourner, in draft mode. Imagine having to tweak a post when your RSS subscribers are already on it.
