Sometimes I feel overwhelmed – Tasks overload

No matter how hard you try to focus on your goals, sirens whining left and try sometimes distract you.

After taking care of website matters such as the design, logo, menu, widgets and initial content, I’m concentrating hard on writing content for the SAC and also to compensate for the time lost dawdling around. And this is coming out just fine.

But…

…from time to time something irresistible crosses my path. I copy most of them down for future use but some are just too compelling to be pushed to ‘later on’.

For example, the other day I was checking something on my Yoast SEO plugin and saw that they have linked up with Ryte to give users insights which may go beyond what even Google Search Console offers.

I plugged in my site at Ryte to be analyzed and what came out nearly derailed my plans. Basically they were telling me the same things I see in Google Search Console but with Ryte there were interesting action-oriented details. Matters which could make my site better.

Publishing content once and then twice a day has enabled me to double my derisory impressions of some 200 a day to almost 500 in under a month. The number of clicks has also more than doubled. This is encouraging. But when you see other matters which can hasten your success, you’re just tempted to halt your current project and give it a try too.

Do you experience the same thing? How do you go about ignoring or heeding those sirens without sacrificing your productivity?

It happens to most people. Sometimes leaving what you are doing (especially if you're stuck) to read useful posts helps you relax and then when you come back can make headway again. Other times just copying posts to read later is best. With time your reading speed increases so no matter how much you stray you still accomplish your goals. But all said and done, one can do only so much in a day. Thats also something we all cant really help. You are on the right path Ako.

The important thing is to always come back to our task. Distracting us is not bad, it's even healthy to not have your head exploding.

Ingrid

Yes, distractions will always come Babou, but the most important thing as you say is to come back to the plan.

It happens all the time. Good luck

That's true, my friend.

Focus, will power.
Goal setting and achieving.
Training first....play later.
Don't get side tracked.
Be grateful for what you have got not what you haven't.
Look after your mind, body and soul....balance.
Daisy

I agree entirely with you Daisy, but how easy is it to do what you preach?

Just have to do it.

Right.

Unfortunately life comes at you pretty quick and it is so easy to get overwhelmed.
Joe

Yeah Joe, the Internet has given us an impressive opportunity but that also oppresses us.

Thanks for chilmng in.

Yeah, this all sound very familiar! Shiny object syndrome 😂 I have a to do list as long as my arm of all of the shiny objects I'm tempted by, my plan is to get to them when I'm ahead on everything else. I try to avoid them, not always successful, sadly.

Awareness is the first step to the cure 😊

Sounds like you're doing a great job, well done!

Blessings
Louise

Yeah, Louise, which online entrepreneur hasn't felt this way? I like your strategy, that of looking at side projects only the main ones are off your to-do-list.

Thanks for the compliment.

That plan is working for me so far - I started out putting them in my calendar but that became a nightmare with reminder after reminder popping up. Now I have an excel spreadsheet I just pop the links into & one day ... One fine day ... I'll get to them 😊

I guess it all boils down to discipline.
