My Goals Revisited (1)

First Goal: Quit my 16-year-old part-time day job

The year 2019 is drawing closer and closer to an end. It’s time to review goals set for the year and think of new ones for the New Year.

However, in my search for my 2019 goals, I also fell on the goals I had sent to a friend in the United States of America in 2015 who had promised to find me funding.

I will like to revisit them. I’m sure others here will share the same remarks as mine.

Concerning my first goal, I wrote:

“I had been trained as a freelance writer for children, adolescents, teenagers and adults and had published in local and American newspapers. I did this side by side with a part-time job teaching business English to high school and vocational school students.

Finding myself going nowhere, I searched online in 2011 and found blogging and affiliate marketing as a free way to make money online. However the training I did was so limited that I could not succeed much with my blog http://it-is-easy-to-make-money-at-home.blogspot.com/

Then I followed a much better and much more expensive affiliate marketing course with Wealthy Affiliate and in a year have managed to create http://www.secureyourfuturewithus.com. I need time to dedicate to filling this blog with quality content. Unfortunately my teaching jobs take up too much of my time. It’s not uncommon for me to work the whole day some days (for example, on Tuesdays I teach from 11 am to 6 pm without break and then from 6.30 pm to 10 pm) for wages between $300 and $500 a month.

Often, I have had to leave blog posting for a couple of months. My blog visits then plummets. The rare sales also disappear.

Under the circumstances, developing my blog will be dependent on posting regularly, something like 5 times a week in the beginning and then 2 or 3 a week. And this I can do when I quit my day job and devote all my time to the blog.

$1,000 a month should be enough to take care of my rent, feeding costs, family, etc. It’d be much easier for me to quit my job if I can be assured of this amount for a period of 5 years, hence the amount of $60,000.”

The result?

My friend never got me a single penny. So, 4 years later I’m still at my part-time job. But I’m working hard not to go beyond 20 years in teaching. The lesson I’ve learned here is not to count too much on others but more on oneself.

I hope you meet your goals. You have to depend on yourself.

Thanks for the advise. I've been counting on myself since.

You will get there. Many are working full time jobs and have families but if the will to succeed is strong you will get there under your own steam.
Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement, Linda. My will is now greater than ever because I know I can't afford not to succeed.

I'm sure you will make it happen!

Ingrid

Thank you, Ingrid. I appreciate.

Yes, hit that goal!

Thank you, friend.

Keep working towards those goals my friend. I have no doubt that you will surpass them. Jim

Your goals have also been turned around? It seems as if life is always having the best of us. I agree with you concerning having less time now that you're retired. I teach and during each vacation, especially the long vac, I think I'll write a lot of blog posts. But like you, I find myself caught in certain things I hadn't thought of at all. Like you, me being a teacher and not doing 9 hours a day make people think that I have all the time in the world. While that time must be used for preparing lessons, grading papers, etc. Fortunately I have adolescent children but they don't need me much now. Yes, Wealthy Affiliate is something which has come to our rescue. So, let's give it much of our attention as it has the capacity to free us.

Thanks for commenting, good friend.

Even friends can let us down. The only one you can count on is you. Keep focusing on your personal goals. Develop the websites then the posts to reach those goals and they are all reachable.
It is perfectly okay to revisit your goals. It's called by pilots, course correction. Correct your course to achieve your goals.
Joe

When even family members can let you down, why on earth can you blame a friend for the same? Yes, you're right, the only person who will be fair to you is you.And I also agreewith you that, for that reason, you must continue focusing on your personal goals. That's why I'm developing my websites and even going to buy blog posts now to help accelerate the progress.

Thanks for your valuable input, Joe. I always appreciate it.

You will succeed...guarantee it!
Joe

You make me feel good!
