How to Get New Blog Ideas from Every Blog Post You Write
Are you scratching your head and racking your brains for your next blog post?
If you have written a certain number of blog posts (especially long form ones), then your embarrassment should rather be an overload of blog ideas to write about.
Did you know that every blog post you write is a goldmine of several ideas? These ideas are what we normally put under different headlines of our posts. If you researched your article well, each of them is a keyword which can rank. And each of them can be used to write a full-blown article which can also rank well.
Let me use this post I published today to my blog (of course, through SiteContent) to illustrate the idea. This blog is 8,099 words long or 19 full MS Word pages long.

As you see, from one blog post, I’ve got 36. (All the titles are provisional). Maybe this may be far-fetched. In fact, this particular post is very rich in ideas. But it’s not unusual to get a dozen new blog posts from a long form one. A couple or a handful is possible from short blog posts.
I don’t copy just the titles, I copy sections related to them as well. For example:
Title: 9 Benefits of Shopping Online
Introduction: You love online shopping, don’t you?
You're not the only one. Many other shopper adore it too. Why not when there are so many benefits to online shopping.
Subtitles
You can shop in your pajamas
You wouldn’t have to leave your house
There’ll be no traffic to fight to drive to the mall and circle the parking lot
Online stores are open around the clock
Product selection is huge, including items sold outside of your country
Comparing prices between multiple retailers to find a bargain and save money is a breeze
You can read both customer and professional reviews of products before you make your purchase
Products are shipped right to your door (and with Amazon Key, even dropped inside your door, too!)
Even returns are easy, with the right e-tailers.
Conclusion: Want to go shopping online? Consider the following safe sites: (I will propose some of the affiliate shopping sites I belong to).
I may end up not using all the topics listed above or all the ideas (as illustration in the 9 Benefits of Online Shopping) in each topic. But should research confirm the need for any of them, I will go ahead and write them.
Of course, the main blog post took me roughly two weeks to research, plan and write. But that much time was not wasted.
Now, I can use the spin-off ideas to quickly write shorter blog posts in which I will give more details about each.
Each time I publish one of the new posts above, it will be an opportunity for me to go back to the main published post and link the appropriate section back to the new one using an anchor text like: For more details about The Benefits of shopping Online, please click here. (Then I will link to the bold part).
This is also good for SEO as Google likes internal linking. This gives value for visitors as they can visit other posts on your blog to learn more. It also makes visitors stay longer on your blog, telling Google that your site is a valuable one.
