This is the first of a series of 20 ways to use Google search console for SEO. Each day I will bring you one strategy to work on, if necessary.

Google Search Console is a free useful tool provided by Google to help you improve your site for search.

It does this by giving you myriads of information that you can work on for your site’s effective SEO.

Because of that, Google Search Console is a must-have in your SEO toolkit.

To learn to use Google Search Console for SEO, first, we’ll look at 10 basic data in Google Search Console. And then 10 other advanced ones you can use to increase traffic and rankings.

The 10 basic things you can do in Google Search Console will help the search engine crawl your site and index it. They will also enable you to understand your site’s performance in organic search.

That said, let’s look at the first one:

1. How to Find Out What Keywords Your Site/Content Ranks For

The basic pieces of data you’ll need for SEO are found in Google Search Console’s “Performance” report.

One of them is the keywords that your site and pages rank for. In the tool, this is labelled “queries”.

So, log in to the tool, click “Performance,” and scroll down the page.

The “Queries” tab will be selected by default. Go down it and scroll through the list.

You will see every keyword your site shows up for in search results. You can select up to 500 at a time.

Want to see what keywords your individual pages rank for?

First, click the “Pages” tab, and then select the page you want to review. (For this exercise, I will select the first page down here)

Click the “Queries” tab. There are all of the keywords that the page you had selected ranks for.

To inspect another page, click the “Pages” tab, dismiss the former selected page, select the page you want, and click “Queries”.

That’s it, all the keywords that your site ranks for.
