The Ultimate Success Formula

As you may know, I am a huge advocate of self development. And while there are dozens, if not hundreds, of so-called “gurus” out there, there is one in particular that I owe an overwhelming sense of gratitude to for being the first in my life.

Unless you have been living under a rock for the past 30 years, I am sure you recognize the name Tony Robbins.

Now, Robbins was not the first motivational speaker in the world, of course, but he was certainly the first for me. His work in Neuro-Linguistic Programming at a time when practically no one had ever heard of it was pivotal in my development. Indeed, I went on to receive several certifications in NLP myself as a result.

The Ultimate Success Formula

One of the most powerful lessons Robbins teaches is what he refers to as the “Ultimate Success Formula”. This is a series of steps that you can follow that virtually guarantees success in any endeavor.

Step One: Know Your Outcome

Before you can achieve any goal, you must first know exactly what it is you are hoping to achieve. For example, think about the sport of archery. In which scenario are you more likely to hit the bulls eye: just randomly aiming the arrow and hoping to hit something, or seeing the bulls eye and aiming directly for it?

Goals are the same way. If you don’t know the outcome you are trying to achieve — i.e. your “bulls eye” — you are far less likely to reach your goal.

Step Two: Take MASSIVE Action

Once you have decided on what outcome it is you are looking to achieve, you have to take action. Massive action. So much action that you don’t even have time to worry if it is going to work or not. As Nike says, just do it.

It’s amazing how little stress we experience if we are taking enough action; you’re too busy moving on to the next action to stress about the one you just did. So, don’t worry… just do.

Step Three: Develop Sensory Acuity

Okay, so what the heck is “sensory acuity”? Basically, it’s just a fancy way of describing your ability to recognize if something is working or not.

In step two you took massive action. Yet, common sense will tell you that not all actions are created the same. Some will work. Some won’t. And even if certain actions work, some may actually work better than others. Thus, what you’re looking for are actions that create the greatest probability of producing the outcomes you are looking for.

So, sensory acuity is your ability to compare your actions to see if they are taking you closer to your goal (outcome) or farther away.

Step Four: Be Flexible

The last step of the Ultimate Success Formula is flexibility. You know your outcome. You are taking massive action. You can see what is working and what is not. Now the final step is to continually adjust your behavior until you achieve your goal.

How Airplanes Work

If you’ve read some of my other posts, you know that I am a great admirer of aviation. I just love planes. And did you know that planes are actually off course 90% (or more!) most of the time? Various factors can affect a flight. Wind, weather, fuel, crew hours, and more all play a part in the path a plane takes. And yet, most airplanes arrive at their destination.

How do you explain that?

Believe it or not, it’s because the pilots are following the Ultimate Success Formula. They know their destination, they take hundreds or even thousands of actions throughout a flight, they have the ability to recognize if they are on course or off course, and they are flexible enough to change their actions whenever they are off course.

They go through this process constantly until they are able to land the plane on a dime.

Affiliate Marketing

Your Wealthy Affiliate journey is no different from a plane.

You should first know where it is you would like your site to go. Set some milestones. For example, $100 per month in 9 months. $500 per month in a year. $2000 per month in two years. And so on.

This is important. What level are your trying to achieve? This will determine your massive action plan. If you’re trying to hit $5000 a month in a year, you already know that you’re going to have to put out more than just one mediocre article a week, right?

Next is where the rubber meets the road. Write. And then write some more. And then some more. Create tons of content. The more action you take, the greater likelihood it is that you will succeed.

After a few months, then you check your analytics. Which articles are not seeing any traffic? Can you rewrite it for better quality, or is it just a dud topic? Which articles are being read the most? Can you create more like that?

Finally, take all the data that you have accumulated through this process and start tweaking.

You want more of the “good” and less of the mediocre. Much like our plane, keep adjusting back and forth, back and forth, until you reach your intended destination and land that sucker! :-)

Good luck. And you know me; I love stories. So feel free to share with everyone your experiences with Ultimate Success Formula, even if you didn't know it had a name before now.

What was your goal? How did you get there? What did you have to adjust along the way? What was your final result?

We all learn more when we learn together. Take care.

Yes when things not working like when I trying to build a muscle by push up 20 times. But it did not have the results your sensor acuity is telling you that is not enough you got to raise the level to 50times then 100 times you get the muscle. So yes we adjust to what we want and keep pushing harder to get there. Put more efforts. 👏💯😊👍💪👌😁Awesome AJ for sharing this out.

Thank you

My sensory acuity is telling me that what I am doing is not working the way I wish. Now, how do I figure out what to change?

There's one thing that bothers me about content creation: I do some changes as I go, yes, but never really have time to edit thoroughly. Instead, I have to write the next post. That's frustrating.

Enjoyed the read. You do such a good job.

Thank you. And don't get too hung up on the editing. We just need to clearly communicate our message. As long as you're doing that, no one is going to be too concerned if you have a dangling participle or two. :-)

What an awesome post! And the airplane analogy was just perfect. You continue to inspire me and for that, I thank you!

Thank you :-)

Thanks for your motivational post, AJ. So often in the past, I failed because I made an awesome goal but did not plan how to get to that goal and in the end, there was no massive effort - no success.
Great analogy too about flight and the necessity of constant corrections along the path.
Thanks so much for sharing.

Thank you

Great post!
It is true that when we think of success, we always imagine full of complicated convolutions. But in fact, just learn, think about what we want to do exactly and what audience we want to reach then take action to put in place everything we've learned. success, it's up to us to build it now without waiting for a good time that never really arrives.

Ingrid

Thank you.

Oh my,
I have saved that to my favourites, what a beautifully simplistic goal and mind setting that post was/is and am guessing that is the point, keeping it simple don’t over complicate, visualise, work and tweak....

Big thank you for taking the time to write and share... 👍😁

Thank you. Yes, often simple is best :-)

This is an amazing way of explaining the ultimate success formula. I have learned a lot from this one article. I plan to read all of your others because you have a very understandable way of explaining things. You have a great talent and I can see why you are so successful. As for my goals... I haven't reached them yet and need to get clear in my head what they are...so I will have to get back to you on that!
Michelle

Definitely. Remember, it's about progress, not perfection :-)

I love you article. I have some goals in my head but I need to put it on paper. I will do it now and get writing.

Thanks.

Yes, it is extremely important that we write down our goals. It makes them feel more "real" in our mind :-)

Thanks for sharing AJ, I already took note Cheers!

Thanks.

Totally concur AJ. I'm still using my 'Hour of Power' every day. I'm currently working my way through 'Live With Passion' for the umpteenth time. It's one of the reasons I don't mind ironing in the morning before everyone else is up. I have a notebook on hand and periodically will go back to the beginning and read through again. There is always something I've forgotten.
The ability to use his methods of creating 'negative associations' has kept me on a path I will always be thankful for.

Totally agreed. For me, mindset is everything :-)
