So I read somewhere in this vast expanse of WA knowledge, that it's not good to make a category a menu... I think that was what I understood. ?

How then do you bring toget

OK, Aidan, now I am stalking you!! I've no idea where you got that idea. It's a complete load of rubbish. ;) The whole point of adding Categories to Posts is so that you can group and display them that way, either using the Category Widget or via a Category on a Custom Menu or a Custom Menu Widget. :) Rich.

So it's fine to add a category as a menu? I thought that wasn't good practice... but I've been using them anyway 'cause I couldn't work out any other way :)
You are definitely stalking me :p
Cheers A

@ RICh While you're here :) does SEO use category names and the descriptions etc?

I honestly believe the easiest way to #fail is to get bogged down in technicalities and focus on search engines and what they want. You end up with a site that they love, but guess what they don't have wallets. Focus on visitor engagement or UEO, the human beings, they're the ones who spend the money. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/domw/blog/what-seo-is-really :) Rich.

Good point. I'm fine with creating the content to try answer questions but I'm new to the SEO aspect. Just want to make sure I'm not missing anything. :)
If I can do anything to get it up there in the rankings, I don't want to stuff it up.

Follow this training. https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/getting-your-website-seo-ready If you listen to Kyle's voiceover around 6:50 in that video you'll hear him say: "... and we only have to update the home page title and description fields, all the other posts and pages are going to be taken care of that we create, because this tool (All-in-One SEO) actually automates the rest of the pages that you create, it will create the title and description for you automatically, we only have to do this once and then we're never going to have to revisit this tool again...". The fields are occasionally useful, for example if you had a page or post that simple had a video or image on it then by all means write a description as there's no text for a search engine to create the most relevant summary from to display in the search results. I've never filled these fields in on a page and post basis myself nor spent a second thinking about SEO meta and it's certainly never done me any harm! :) Rich.

@ RICH So if my site uses "abc" keyword, but I find "xyz" keyword that is relevant and make a post using "xyz", does it add to my "abc" relevance in the big SEO picture?
I mean, they can be quite different...

Your site becomes an "authority" and ranks better as you create more and more relevant content. Focus on creating individual pages and posts with a relevant keyword that makes sense in the title and first para. That's are all that matters and all you need to know. Just follow the training. :) R.

Thanks for the stalking... :)
I'll just keep adding posts and see how it goes.

So here's the real question... When I do keyword searches , whether free tool or Jaaxy, it uses "phrase" to search. When I do Google searches using "phrase" I have great ranking

OK So to answer my question...
From what I understand by focusing my content around the keyword in " " my site builds relevance to that keyword. As my site becomes older and gets more relevant content added to it, it will start to get listed higher in searches without the " ".
I think that's the general idea... which is why it's important to keep adding fresh, relevant content to the site.
Correct me if I'm wrong... but it seems to make sense.

Exactly. Your site evolves into an "authority" on a particular subject and the aggregate of your ever expanding content increases your chances of ranking that much higher. There are a lot of other factors that come into play, but if your following the training step-by-step you have the highest chance of creating a successful business! :) Rich.

Hi everyone, I did a google search for my website with the exact quote "earn wealth for your financial health" and my website, http://itshealthytobewealthy.com was listed #10 on pg 1 of Google. However, when I used the exact same phrase without the quotes, my website was listed #4 on pg2 of Google. Do people usually search using quotes? Should I aim for keywords so people can find my site without using quotes?

No - people search without quotes. At the moment you just need to focus on keep adding content to your site.

Thanks BIS

Hey Aidan. The use of quote marks is simply to provide an exact match figure for the keyword, ie. the words are together and in that order. If you search for the exact match of "christianity and cannibalism" with the quotes you will get close to 1,000,000 results. http://d.pr/i/VkwA However, those results include variations as well as the exact matches. If you then go to the last page of those search results http://d.pr/i/H8Ie you will see that in fact there are only 55 exact matches. It's why keywords must always make sense, if you search for example | money make how | without quotes you'll see the words returned in bold (the searched words) are reordered. If you want more information on using the Keyword Tool here take a look at https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/how-to-use-the-keyword-search-tool-on-wa :) Rich.

Hi RICH,
Thanks for ur answer. I understand that the use of the " " provides a specific search but most people don't use the " " when doing a search.

My site doesn't even rate in Google if I don't use the quotes. If I do then it's page 4. This is a hi-ranking keyword as far as the tools are concerned.

What's the deal?

It's difficult to answer without knowing the specifics. However, your ranking is never fixed, if it was no-one else could ever compete could they?! :) You should find as your site is built out and you become more of an authority, then your pages and posts gain proportionately, likewise if people "engage" with them, or don't bounce away. In my case, I find at the moment, I usually rank page #2 or #3 within half-an-hour of posting, occasionally page #1 then disappear for a while and come back, again often to page #1. However, I also rank higher on many of my posts for a different keyword than the actual one I was aiming for, sometimes ones that are much more competitive and that I wouldn't normally have considered. May I ask, how old is your site?! Rich.

@RICH Only a couple of weeks. I don't have any affiliate links yet... still working on building the content.

Yup, your site is very "young". It took me probably at least 3-4 months to reach this "stage". :) Rich.
