Hello wonderful worldwide WA community and Happy Tuesday!

Yes indeed, this is another post in my recnet series here on the shifting or emerging new socio-economic trends.

I will make it as short and as painless as I can but I thought to share it with you all, especially those who have or will soon college age kids entering the halls of so called higher education.

A recent Bloomberg article focused on the pile of debt amassed by US based business majors in pursuit of that shiny MBA degree:

Almost half the students at top business schools around the world have borrowed at least $100,000 to finance their master’s degree in business administration, a Bloomberg survey found. While MBA graduates can command starting salaries of $80,000 to $140,000, student loans have been the fastest growing segment of consumer debt in the U.S. and are preventing young people from purchasing homes.

Nothing sound more like freedom than that, does it America? I mean you need to want to start by being subjugated to loans and their masters so that eventually after [if ever] you are done paying all of that, you can be the master of your destiny. Ironically there is the word >Master" in MBA, but the cruel joke is that the MBA graduate is not a master of anything, but of a pile of debt.

I am sounding like a broken record by now, but we can with our skills, training, knowledge, etc. help, inform, educate, empower and liberate millions, not just MBA aspiring student from the too predictable outcome of the cradle to grave path assigned to us by society.

Oh, and, last but not least, ketchup packets are included in that sweet MBA deal!

Blessings!

That's great for some. But I've known many people that were very successful, with only a high school degree. I knew one man that became a millionaire three different times in his life. He had a nineth grade education.

Dana,

Thanks for the feedback and your comments.

Blessings!

We need education, and it does not make sense to price it so high that no one can enroll...so many people either get stopped because the fees are high or start out their professional lives with a huge pile of debt. That is not right. I really don't know the solution, but I think we'd better find one.

Fran,

We and what WE do is the solution.

My brain hurts and yet rejoices when I think of the growing number of multimillionaire entrepreneurs, 10Xers, 2 Commas Club, etc. some of who went through severe hardships, filed for bankruptcy and were close to being homeless [the reasons and circumstances vary of course] and used affiliate marketing to reach levels of success unheard of.

Look at Jerry Huang's amazing success at his age and all he has achieved.

There are alternatives to high priced education and I have highlighted some new trends and initiatives in my recent posts.

The main culprit is the mold of society and the grasp of its claws on our lives, unless you follow the path they set up for you, then you are weird or an outcast.

Tell that to Bill Gates and others like him.

These artificially jacked up arrangements, supported by big unions and big corporations drive the costs to insanity to the detriment of all who were to benefit from it.

Blessings!

Education is awesome! I think the real problem resides on how this business is driven by economy and society's imbeded mentality.

Great article!

Carlos.

Carlos,

I do agree with that, however, education for the sake of education and the effect the burden on the students cannot be explained as a sound or positive strategy.

Many college dropouts have become millionaires because they were able to think outside the box.

As to society. think about this for a moment.

From the time Adam and Eve were cast out of the Garden of Eden, humankind had to work to feed, clothe and protect themselves from the elements and from others with mensa rea.

The men, traditionally, hunted, fished, farmed, etc, and the women took care of the household (not going into socio stuff here, simply stating the historical facts).

Of course with development we need not be doing those survival drives tasks, but switched over to a system of trading our tiem for money.

Perhaps without realizing those strong survival skills were dulled, similarly to domesticated animals, who now depended on their master for food and shelter.

I cannot stress enough how all of that socio economic shift had rendered us into serfs to others who control education and corporate employment.

I think of it this way:

We have moved form being hunters/fishermen/farmers (adjusted for whatever gender anyone wants to adjust to) into gatherers. The former implies deliberate intentional pro active activities and mindset, whereas, the second implies reflexive, passive acts and mindset which is content with roadkill, crumbs, french fries and ketchup packets.

I know that this subject may not be as appealing as most FB like social media posts but ignoring our fate and that of our children is not a sound or safe strategy.

Blessings!

ABSOLUTELY!
I would love to have coffee with you one day....I love your mind.
You rock!
Daisy

Daisy,

Thanks for the kind words but I really am a regular schmuck who is merely voicing out the obvious.

The only thing going for myself was having been able to stay awake in Dr Prof Emeritus Twack's reading comprehension class broadcast from the illustrious Royal British Observatory of Economic and Fine Disciplines while he used a large bullhorn to transmit his wisdoem before the internet became a real thing.

Can we substitute coffee for french fries? We will of course have ketchup packets on us or can get soem at the local ATM machine.

Blessings

Sounds like fries it is hahahahaha

In a society Based on debt, it is often difficult to get them to realize otherwise. And the ketchup packets are going to have to be paid for along with the Fries.

Sonny

Amen,

Except that the ketchup packets and saving ketchup as shown in the picture will be the so called compensation, just enough no keep a pulse going.

Blessings!

I will have to come back to this Gabriel... I must ponder it!
(It has me thinking, dangerous of you)! I will say... Awesome Job on it... as always!
Shaunna

Shaunna,

I know it is not lunch time just yet, but them fries are yummy, ain't it?

Blessings!

It's 8:30 AM here... (Yawn)!

Shaunna,

I know but when MBA student loans eat up all "earnings and savings" french fries may be the only thing on the daily menu.

That should be like a symbol of the MBA degree.

Blessings!

Now now... I was just typing something about spam and eggs on the menu of MBA... (the MBA being spam, not the post)... now you want fries too? LOL
