Gravity Rulz: Tumblr Sold By Verizon To Wordpress' Owner, Automattic, Inc.
Yeah, tumblers fall at times, but this one...
And so it goes, as an online article in Axios summed it up, primarily because of Verizon's failure to properly monitor the content on Tumblr, which was less than savory, check out who the sole interested suitor was, to put it mildly:
The big picture: Tumblr, while unprofitable, hosts more than 450 million blogs and was once considered a major player in the social media space. The network was acquired by Yahoo for $1.1 billion in 2013, before moving under Verizon's umbrella through the carrier's acquisition of Yahoo in 2017. Verizon's desire to sell Tumblr had been previously known, but as of May, Pornhub had been the only bidder to show public interest.
But hey, no worries, this will never happen to US giant media platform X, or Y or Z, right? You know the ones everyone is glued to and puts up all of their content on...
They are too big to tumble, right?
Enjoy the circus show.
Blessings!
