Is there a problem using Jetpack with WA?

I have installed WooCommerce which comes with Jetpack and yet when I go to finish the set up I get the following error message;

cURL error 7: couldn't connect to host

Does anyone know a way around this?

It has been a long standing problem. Seems WA and jet pack are not compatible with each other. I do get the same error. At one time Jet pack did work for me but it clashed with other programs. I would like to have it, but I have enough problems. I wish you the best. I know WA does not recommend it, perhaps site support may be able to assist. All the best

The issue is that WA blocks access to the xmlrpc.php file (remote access) for security purposes. The XML PPC file is often the focus of attacks. So WA decided to block access rather than deal with related issues. This impacts and prevents Jetpack, other plug-ins, and Software as a Service apps from running on our websites.

I'm sorry I can't help you. When I started my site, I had problems with WooCommerce too. Luckily, my site worked without it.
Sorry! Best of Luck! You will find an answer.

Ask sitesuport to,allow plugin

I contacted Jetpack’s support about this a couple weeks ago and this was their reply:

We're being blocked from accessing (site url)/xmlrpc.php which Jetpack requires to function.

Unfortunately, blocking XML-RPC is not a great solution for fighting security risks. It's akin to selling your car because you don't want it to be stolen.

Your site's XML-RPC file is kind of like a communication gateway to your site. Jetpack, the WordPress Mobile Apps, and other plugins and services will use this file to communicate to your site. If this is blocked, you will have other issues pop-up down the road for the same reasons.

If you are using any security plugins, please try connecting with those temporarily deactivated. If you don't have any, or if that didn't work, I would suggest contacting your hosting provider and asking them to unblock your site's XML-RPC. The most popular hosting providers out there have managed to find other ways to protect their servers without having to hinder your site and your ability to use services with your WordPress.

If they refuse to make any changes, and if you want to use apps and plugins like Jetpack, I'd suggest looking for a new host. Here are a few hosts we recommend:

I decided I could live without it, lol. Based on reading other replies, it seems WA blocks it for more reasons than what Jetpack assumes.

Hi, SteveMand is quite right. I had this problem a couple of months ago and contacted site support, this is what they said:

Regarding Jetpack -
We don’t recommend Jetpack because every single page load is connecting to WordPress.com which is terribly inefficient and adds a lot of latency to your website. There is nothing that you can gain from Jetpack, so don't bother using it.

I like Site Support, they don't pull their punches.

I had the same issue with Jetpack and solved it like this... By not bothering with it. I am a fan of it, but haven't missed it

I do not know but have the same problem...it is a great question.
