A Privacy Policy is a statement that discloses some or all of the ways a party gathers, uses, discloses, and manages a customer or client's data. It fulfills a legal requirement to protect a customer or client's privacy.

Personal information can be anything that can be used to identify an individual, including name, address, date of birth, marital status, contact information, ID issue and expiry date, financial records, credit information, medical history, where one travels, and intentions to acquire goods and services.

In the case of a business it is often a statement that declares a party's policy on how it collects, stores, and releases personal information it collects. It informs the client what specific information is collected, and whether it is kept confidential, shared with partners, or sold to other firms or enterprises.

The exact contents of a privacy policy will depend upon the applicable law and may need to address requirements across geographical boundaries and legal jurisdictions. Most countries have their own legislation and guidelines of who is covered, what information can be collected, and what it can be used for. In general, data protection laws in Europe cover the private sector as well as the public sector. Their privacy laws apply not only to government operations but also to private enterprises and commercial transactions.

Before adding the Policy Privacy page to your website, you should do some Google research about the Privacy Policy in your own country, because the applicable law could be different.

I have made my website Privacy Policy page under Portuguese Law. You can take a look in

Hi Robert! Where do you leave? I'm from Portugal, and you can take a look in my PP page http://trabalharporprazer.siterubix.com/politica-de-privacidade . It is Portuguese language and I made it under the portuguese law.
You have to inform your visitors about cookies, but it is not enough. Try to search in Google in your own language or you can search some examples of PP in any website from your country.

Hi Adias, I didn't dive into it, but I think at this point it is necessary for my website. Thanks for reminding me!

You're welcome!

I live in Europe, and by the European directions, we need to inform the visitors that the site is using cookies. ( usually there is a popup which visitors can click away ). Not sure if it is enough to put that in the privacy policy.
