The Wind, the Sun, and the Traveler
When I was in the elementary grade I've heard a lovely story about power. I cannot forget it until this time that I'm already 55 by July 23. It's a story four decades ago but my mind had it recorded sharply. The story is about the Wind, the Sun, and the Traveler. Who is the most powerful among them?
An argument ensued not among the three but just between the Wind and the Wun and the traveler as the specimen.
The Sun would say I am the most powerful because I can warm the whole world. The Wind argued if you can warm the whole world I can freeze it too. The argument took them to show each power simultaneously. So the Wind blows the earth as furiously as it could and the Sun reflected its light so boldly.
This took long and no one wanted to stop and conceded until they saw a traveler passing by with a cloak worn over his body. They decided to concentrate on that small thing than on the whole universe. The one who can take off that cloak is the most powerful.
The Wind went first and blew as it could but the more violently the blow was the more the traveler wrapped his cloak over him. The Sun took its turn and slowly came out behind the clouds, slowly warmed the traveler until he took off his cloak from his body.
What power do we have?
- knowledge
- money
- social status
- etc.
How do we use these powers to be beneficial as it can be?
- violently
- influentially
- threatening
We, as individuals that seek to be a part of any community including WA community, must think and place ourselves bringing with us any power in the most beneficial strategy and not the otherwise.
Why do I lose my power? Maybe it is not being used properly.

Fabulous story and lesson, Jimmy. Do not abuse your power and use it beneficially. The Sun benefited the traveler and thus won. And the traveler was warmed.
Correct, power can be abusive and can be helpful but we are reminded to have the power that empowers others.
