The Parable of the Boat
Taken from the compilation of the late Dr. Juan M. Flavier (the Health Secretary of the Philippines)
Here is the story:
He was a typical individualistic farmer who did things according to his own judgment and lessons from past experience.
Reinforcement came from his neighbors. They called him Piyok, a term used for one who farmed alone.
His farm was small so he needed no extra help. He owed no one any debt of gratitude and felt no need for reciprocity.
He managed somehow in his stand for complete indiependence and self-reliance.
One day he took a boat ride across the river.
"Where are you going, Piyok?" The other passengers asked. "To the other side to gather some firewood, he answered".
He sat on a piece of wood at the end of the boat. Now, while the boat was being rowed, Piyok fiddled with his bolo. Soon he poked the pointed end of his bolo and began to bore a hole on the base of the boat under him.
"Hey, Piyok, don’t do that", the other passengers shouted. "This is my part of the boat", Piyok answered. "Leave me alone. Sit where you are and mind your own business. Do what you want and let me be.”
He continued to wiggle his bolo on the base of the wooden boat. Suddenly, from the hole water spouted like a fountain. More and more water gushed inside the boat. After a few minutes, the whole boat sank.
Even Piyok was adamant in saying he only bored a hole on his part of the boat, the whole boat sank and with it all the people on board.

Think if Wealthy Affiliate is the boat. Who does the boring? Will it sinks or the one who bores will be thrown into the river?

This is a great parable, and one that speaks to the collective mindset of this community. Yes, people are here for different reasons -- personal, financial, professional and otherwise, but ultimately we are all on this WA journey together. Speaking for myself, I am delighted at the amount of support from other like-minded people, and have no doubt that we will keep this ship afloat...!
