New Trackbacks on Website Posts
I have been receiving this message from WordPress and I have quite been alarmed.
However, upon researching on the meaning I got delighted on the definition that says: A track back is an automatic notification sent when a link has been created to a person's blog post from an external website, allowing a reciprocal link to that website to be created.
This means that Word Press is making inbound links to my website which directs visitors to my website whenever they are searching something from other websites with related topics. This is in other words called backlinks.
I'm not sure if I understood these technicalities. However, I appreciate it and am thankful for it.

Hi Jimmy, now I'm not sure what to do.
A while ago there was training with Loes and someone asked about 'pingbacks and trackbacks'.
I'm looking at my notes right now.
The setting is found at the end of our pages/posts while in edit, right under Comments where we 'click' on the box to enable them.
Loes told me where to find these and said to UNcheck the box so I won't get them. She said they are 'posts' talking to each other.
I have notes on the difference between Internal, External and Backlinks.
For Backlinks it states that a backlink is any link that takes a reader to your website from outside of it. Just like if someone links to our website, that serves as a backlink to us.
You don't have to rely on outside people to create backlinks for us, you can create them yourself through commenting. So when you are on another website, you enter your name, email and website. Then enter your comment to submit it.
Once it's submitted you end up creating a backlink that goes from that website, to your website.
This is what I have in my notes.
So when we leave a comment and if we leave our website, this is a way to get a backlink.
A track back is he same thing?
I guess if I go back and 'check' the box for 'pingbacks and trackbacks' again, I'll get the same message from WordPress.
Not sure what to do.
trackbacks and pingbacks are not good any longer. I would disable them if there is an option for that. So thanks for that note, will look into that.
its better to be in control of your backlinks yourself with the method you provided here.
Hi Steven, thanks for clarifying that. I'm glad I listened to Loes and
UNchecked the box in the settings.
I'm not sure but I rely on the definition which I understand it as a technical issue being created by WordPress to help posts connected with other sites.
You know what Jimmy, send that picture to SiteSupport and see what they say.
We do create them on our own when we comment and, when others comment we get them also. It's safer that way for me right now. I'm going to listen to Steven and Loes and leave it.
Ok, I agree.
I left the instructions on how to disable them if needed, it's very easy and you have to do it to each page and post.
