Believe In Yourself

When you are learning something really new to you, attitude is everything.

When you start out with a negative attitude, it leads to a lack of confidence, which leads to a feeling of overwhelm.

In this state of mind your brains automatic response is to shut down and go dumb.

You suddenly forget that your capable of figuring things out, you've figured out many new things before, and you've delt with much bigger crises before.

I'll give you an example.

When my mom first got satalite TV, it was all completely new to her.

She was pretty old at the time and wasn't really used to a lot of technology.

She looked at the complex remote, all the buttons, all the channels and all the options.

Her eyes glazed over and she said, "I will never be able to figure all this out!"

To make a long story short, I reminded her how smart she was, how many things she knew how to do and how good she was at solving problems.

I told her to just relax, read what it says on the screen and just select what she wanted from the choices and play around with it and she would get it in no time.

She calmed down, regained her confidence and just started to play around with the remote and she had it all down in no time.

You don't have to figure it all out right now.

You just need to step back, take a deep breath, regain your confidence and then start with the first step, then the next, then the next and so on and so forth.

Then it's almost as if it all starts to work itself out right before your eyes.

The key is belief in yourself and taking action.

Great post Aaron! I had to sit myself down a few times and chew myself out for over-complicating a simple subject. Sometimes it just takes a break or a little exercise to get back to the "flow." It always end up okay in the end, I was just "over-complicating" the situation. I remember well the days I thought, "What??; you want me to figure that out?" Well, like you said, when we are calm and not so negative or in a rush, it all turns out just fine. I've been on a computer now for years to prove it. :)

Thank you very much, Denise! Don't chew yourself out too hard. lol You'll hurt your own feelings and then it's all awkward between you and the little voice in your head. lol You are exactly right, my good friend. When we have a calm head and are patient we can figure out almost anything. Have a great start to your week! :)

Good morning Aaron and good weekend to you. I had the same feelings when I was forced to start doing invoices on a computer, Union Pacific Resources said they wouldn't accept my hand written invoices, need to be typed or computer generated. Candy went and bought a computer , Microsoft and Quick Books, this was 40 years ago. Now, a day never passes that both of us aren't on a computer several hours, who would have thought.

lol. Good story, my good friend. That is the way life goes, isn't it. You just have to adapt and keep going. The only thing that never changes is that things keep on changing. Have a great weekend, Roger! :)

It's funny you should say that. I tried to avoid getting to "techy" and caught up in the wired world. But now I spend almost the day on the computer with all kinds of tech on the horizon, and I love it. I never thought I would, but it's perfect for the older years. No running around, and I'm my own boss. Who would have thought? :)

It is funny how things turn out in life, isn't it. Have a great night, Denise! :)

Overcomplecating things just leads to frustration, stress, anxiety and eventually giving up my friend!

Even in this technology driven world that we find ourselves in today, taking your time, learn step by step the simple way and there is nothing we can't overcome!

I hope that your Hump day is going well Aaron!:-)

Thank you very much, Nick! That is very true. We have all been there and done that. lol We really can do most anything if we just believe and take consistent action. I had a great one and hope you did too, my good friend! :)

Great to hear Aaron! Mine wasn't too bad either, just too hot at the moment my friend!:-)

Yea, it's been really hot here lately too. Take care of yourself, don't get too hot and have a great rest of your week, Nick! :)

Yes, you're right Aaron, to take things a step a time is best!

Also, speaking to what Jeff said, patience is a virtue. However, It is one of the things that I always have to keep in check.

I am super A type personality!!!

Which can be a bit of a double edged sword.

On one hand, I am really motivated and driven. However, on the other hand, I have to keep my anxiousness and patience under control at the same time.

Many Blessings :)

Zach

Thank you very much, Zach! That is very well said, my friend. Patience is definitely a super power when you used properly. Have a great on, my friend! :)

Thank You!

You are very welcome, Zach! :)

We sound like cousins! :)

Who knows? You could be. lol :)

I don't wish that on you.. just kidding.. lol.

lol. :)

It all starts with believing you can with a little support along the way as well.

Thank you very much, Hugh! You are absolutely right, my good friend! :)
