After a WP update it is no longer possible to change my blog and homepage in the Reading Settings... Don't want my blog to be on the home page. How is it possible to change thes
Sometimes when updates occur, either themes or plugins are incompatible with the new update. You may want to disable the plugins, but do so one at a time so you know which is the culprit. If you get through all the plugins and still not luck, try switching the theme back to the Twenty Twelve or Twenty Thirteen default theme and see if that does it.
Best Regards,
Jim
If both of those don't work, you could try removing widgets as the next step. Make sure you do those one at a time as well, so you know which is the offending one.
Is there anyway to post a screenshot so I can show you how it looks now? I tried changing themes, but that didn't help. So I will try deactivating the plugins and widgets.
I see Askimet is still active. Try deactivating that and any other plug ins. If you already did all that, then have you checked your posts or pages? If your posts and pages were deleted, you e
Sorry, I had a bit of a technical blip...
If for some reason the update wiped out your posts and pages, that is how the Settings->Reading screen will look.

When I'm on my laptop and google keywords, my website appears as the number 1 website on the first page of Google! But when I'm on my android tablet it doesn't come up at all...
If you are signed into your Google account, you'll get results based on your past history.
If you are signed out, the results are still based on cookies.
Best thing is to use something like Jaaxy's Site Rank tool.
Thanks! Problem solved :) And I have to say that Jaaxy's Site Rank tool is one pretty awesome tool. Acoording to it, 3 of my pages are ranking with Google so far - on page 3,6 and 7.
It could be something to do with localised results? E.g one or the other is localised to where you are and so gives you the ''most relevant" results according to location? If there is nothing to be localised about your niche, then I have no clue. Another WA member will know far more about that than me.

Last night I discovered that one of my website pages is ranking on page 5 on Google! None of my articles have been published yet either... So, is page 5 good when the page isn't
Thanks for all answers. This is a bit exciting! My website page was on the bottom of page 5 and in about 24 hours it moved all the way to the top of page 4 on Google. I also discovered that a second page of my website is ranking on Google now too. That one is on page 13 tho.
Yes, it could be possible and that's a start keep writing and you will see more results:)
This is a good thing. What keyword is that for, your main one? You can rank for many keywords as you get more content in place on your site.
Keep in mind also that Google customizes your search so they may show you your own properties higher in your display.
To get around this in Chrome do an incognito search, in Firefox it is called Private Browsing.
There is also a Site Search function in Jaaxy that gives true results.
85, there are, could be soooooo many variables why..... some of those could stem from you with 'what' and 'how' you found it....
But first: The most substantial proof of how you 'show' up on G pages is if....
1. you simply typed a generic (without quotes) search term in G search.
2. you were 'signed out' of your (if you have one) gmail account.
I say 'without quotes' because that's how people search Google. Right?
Second: Ok... now depending on your niche and keywords for your niche.... what's the 'competition'? If it's a very very narrow niche, sure, why wouldn't you show up even with a week-old site. I mean, if you're one of the very few doing that niche, you would. I wouldn't be surprised if you moved up even faster over the coming weeks....
But.... if that's the case.. is it too narrow, too small of a niche to make any real money from.... ?
I could create a site in one hour, do G analytics and webmaster in the next ten minutes and show on page one position one within a day or two. But I wouldn't make a red cent from the site.... why? Because 'nobody' has any interest in it. But I'm NOT saying that's the case with you.... just showing how sometimes a site can show fast, but be useless.
I could go on but what I'm basically saying here is, your questions can not be answered specifically... to many unknowns...
Hoping it's all positive for you.... If it's not.... It will be.... over time.... and much work and learning.
