Okay, so maybe I wasn't exactly paying attention in class the other day, when Kyle told us to create a post and publish it; but it wasn't my fault - I was too busy trying to che

One question and so much learning - thanks for your question

I agree Matu - so many things I've still to learn, I guess!

You can copy and paste a page to a post. If you do that in the text editor it will carry all the links and formatting with it.

Delete the page.

This will create a 404 error if the page has been indexed by Google. Not a huge problem but worth noting. You can fix that in either your robots.txt file or with Google Webmaster Tools.

More great information! Thank you Labman.

Yea, you can do that. If you keep the same title and url, you are going to be ok.

If you change the title and url, then go to webmaster tool and do a

REMOVE URL and make sure you check the box "remove URL and cache".
In Bing, just delete the page url.

Agreed.

Great addition John

Thank you John.
For sanity sake - I've decided to leave well enough alone and pay closer attention for the next page ... umm ... post ... er ... arrgh!!!
Appreciate your information - I'll keep it in mind for future reference!

wooooo...

Are we talking about a "Page" that has been published already, and copying it over to a post, then publishing this?

Careful here if this be the case..

Even if you decide to immediately delete the page after you publish your post, you could be penalized by Google. You could have duplicate content as a result...

Did I understand this right?

You do indeed Damien, and I've decided to leave well enough alone and not change anything. I appreciate your feedback and will chalk it up as a lesson learned. Well, not really learned - more like ... umm ... a new experience!!
Thanks!

"copy & Paste from a page to a post"
Copy & Paste from TEXT tab (page) to TEXT tab (in post).. or vice versa.
You don't want ot know how I learned this lesson.

Oh - but that would be a great story I'm sure Phil! Suspense, humour and a lesson well-learned; who wouldn't want to read that? :o)

ya know, not every one of my stories has my life in jeopardy. ;^)

I agree with AngelaHall - copy & Paste from a page to a post. This is why I use Microsoft Office Word 7 to make my drafts. Then copy & paste to what ever you want - page/post. You also still have the original document saved else where. I need be you can trash your page or post and start over. Hope this helps.
thanks.

Thanks Jim - and yes, I'm sure I have that written down somewhere!
I just have to figure out where.

Great answers! I shall leave the page as is, and pay closer attention in class next time!

I have done this before. I get to writing and realize I had written my content in a post but I really wanted it listed in one of my menu headers as a page. Unfortunately there is no magical fix :)
Your only option is to copy the content from the post and paste it in the page or vice versa.

A post is for transient info because it scrolls down the blog page and becomes lost. A page is for information you want to always be available.
I understand converting a page to a post or visa versa is dangerous because links may be broken and other mysterious bugs can develop. Better to cut and paste.
Use Google webmaster tools to check you website for problems, to create a sitemap and submit the map to Google. @nathaniell is correct when he says Google treats posts and pages the same, so it really depends on how you want your information displayed.

I don't think you need to do this. Posts and pages are basically the same as far as Google is concerned. There may be some cases where you want a post or a page specifically, but as long as the content is published, you'll be fine https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/training/the-differences-between-posts-pages

I haven't searched this answer as yet - but I do notice sometimes when I am making, or responding to a comment - the cursor tends to skip back to the top left of the post, despi

I have the same problem some times, I'll just go with a new mouse, I trust Kims advice. :-) Jon

Thanks Kim - it's not a wireless mouse issue. But that is a good point - one wouldn't want to leave a dead mouse laying around the desk - who knows what germs that might attract!! :oP

lol...nice. =]

Its possible that your batteries in your mouse are going dead, unless of course you don't have a wireless. Then its possible the mouse eye may need cleaned, or just a new mouse period. :))

Thanks everyone for your great responses. Currently, the issue is with a desktop computer - so no touchpad present. If I'm working on my tablet, I usually blame my thumb, palm or some other appendage. And on my laptop - I disabled the touch pad the minute I first turned it on. And yes, Rawb, it does go back to square one - but it is more an intermittent issue than an ongoing one.

Try disabling your touchpad and see what happens

It happens a lot on my laptop and usually on social media.

It could be an issue with a driver or video card, also some laptop brands do have a problem which is documented on the internet.
If it is a problem with your mouse pad then you can try disabling it or finding a program such as Touchfreeze.
Thats of course if your using a laptop.
Windows 7...Control Panel - Mouse - Device Select- Check disable Touchpad when USB mouse is present.

That's strange. Is it always to the same spot (upper left)? Because I know on my laptop when I type part of my palm touches the mouse touch pad and moves my cursor on me. So its always in a random location.
