Core “Business Start Up” Training

Pay Per Click Marketing

I built a website recently for a client, and they want to advertise.

I'm not well-versed in this department, and am looking for some answers on the best ways that reap

Direct Mail Postcards at 53 cents each via the USPS, with a QR Code directing to the landing page or website.

- A measurable expense that is fairly consistent.
- A physical postcard is more likely to be delivered to a human than an email or a digital AD.
- A physical postcard will last considerably longer than a click on the internet.
- Lists are available to buy targeted to geographic and demographic audiences.

I see you have been doing this for a while, I believe. How has it been going for you.
It is certainly a novel way to do it.
So

I believe that Google Ads and Bing Ads can give the best ROI but you have to be very careful. Set a small budget, run for a fixed time so you know exactly what it will cost, and thoroughly analyze the data every day.

Thanks, Phil. I appreciate your input!

Rudy

I like it :) And it is true taking Google out of the equation.

You have to be very careful not to let it run away with you.

Out of budget and losing shirts 🤣🤣🙏

A fair warning!

Hey Rudy,

Does there website have lots of helpful posts on it?

If so, the least expensive method is sharing that helpful content on their social media accounts and responding to any comments they receive, in a timely manner.

Paying for ads gets REAL expensive without results when you don't know what you're doing.

They might even consider creating a contest to get even more engagement on their posts.

Just my take on this...

Hope you find this helpful.

Hey Trish,

So far, the website went live end of March, has three or four blog post, 2 are indexed. I'm in the process of explaining (via email) to the client that websites need content added consistently for the best results.

Although she does have a budget for paid ads, I'm hesitant to give the go ahead.

They do have a contest, a monthly giveaway, and I'm using a cool plugin called Simple Giveaways that has shortcode that i can add to her FB , and Pinterest accounts.

Thanks, Trish, much appreciated!

Rudy

PS> As I do not have a FB account, I'm following Jay's training on how to build my first FB page.

I promote a pin on Pintrest. Mostly ladies (70%) viewing the pins. Guys hate picture shopping it seems. lol

Hey Rudy,

Is this for a local business?
If so, then I would consider Facebook as you can set the demographic to be hyper local.

Thanks, Jay. Yes, it IS for a local business. I will be heading over to your How to build a FB page series in a few minutes.

Hey folks, I was going to add a new training, however, when I selected the pencil Icon, the drop down showed options for blog, write an article, create a website or find someth

Hi - just to follow up on this, it's not possible to delete your own training, whether published or draft, Kyle has to do it for you.

Ohh. Thanks for the followup, I wondered if that was the case, either Kyle or site support.

Rudy

Having said that, I asked Kyle to delete all my training, including drafts, and now they do not show as listed on my profile.

BUT, if I click on them in my favorites list, I can still see them in their entirety, it just says "disabled" at the top of them.

So, it appears they can't be deleted completely.

Interesting. If the training is not deleted, will it be visible in a search?

I don't know, to be honest.

I tried searching for a couple of them on Google and couldn't see them, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything!

I meant searched here on WA. I never thought about searching elsewhere for the training.

Following as I also want to remove a training I've done :)

You can do any of your text training, click the cogwheel, then choose the first option, 'new resource, video training,' seeing your comment to Carson.

(See images)

*Only selected folks can do Vlogs.

Hi - well over a year ago, I remember talking to Kyle about this, he stated at the time, that eventually only "certain" members were going to be allowed to create training.

He didn't clarify what he meant, but I suspect that now, only "super affiliates" can create training, and even then, only video blogs.

The option to see how far along we were in the training levels, to see if we were close to getting paid, was removed a long time ago.

I haven't been paid for any training since September last year, and training that I created 7 months ago, has never been paid, despite being consistently in the top 10.

But, was it ever really worth it, potentially spending hours creating something in return for $5?

Great points, Diane. I was surprised that I received any payment, I guess I was was one of the 'chosen ones' who was able to create tutorial/trainings...grin.

I dont recall the last time I was paid for a training, seemed like it was about that same time, last September.

What I've learned is HOW to create tutorials that will be combined in bundles of courses to offer my website visitors.

Re the video blog, Carson didnt mention anything in his reply, buy I don't see any non-premium plus members making video blogs.

Thanks for your comments, Diane...

Rudy

Hi Rudy,

We've moved over to using the BLOG platform to offer training to others here within the community. So, instead of going over to the legacy training tab on your profile, create a new blog post and add your training there.

Blog posts are where members of the platform can offer training of their own and it will be indexed in our search and is sharable.

In regards to deleting a draft in the old training platform, perhaps take anything you were working on and move it over to a blog post and publish it there.

Cheers,

Carson

Thanks, Carson!

So, what you're saying is that our trainings are now considered 'blog' activity?

If so, do we still 'earn' credits from our published training ?

Is there a post link you could share about this move? I didn't find a training tab, that has been removed from the drop down. I selected my list of published training from my profile page.

Are you saying that THAT training tab will be removed from our profile page?

And yes, when I tried to delete the trainings, a while ago, even then I found that I could only remove the content, of which I have already done so.

And how does one post a video blog?

Thanks,

Rudy

Bug Thread: I might be wrong, but I think they phased out members creating their own training recently. I don't have the option to create any training either.

Thanks, Andy...I knew there was one somewhere...grin.

Which service do you use?

Semrush

Moz

Other

Free or paid version?

Thanks!

Rudy

I check mine by how much I earn

When I start earning, then I will check that way too...grin.

Rudy

It's what matters at the end of the day Catherine, so I totally understand your point.

Domain Authority is only a metric which is supposed to give you a rough idea of where you stand amongst your competitors.

We shouldn't worry too much about the specific number, but generally, an increasing DA can give us some hope that we may be earning more down the line as a result of increasing traffic.

So it's not like it's completely out the equation, don't you think?

Best way Rudy

Thanks, folks!

Yeah, Moz is a good one, just used it today!

Somehow, I get an email report from Semrush on one of my websites, I don't recall why, prob after a free trial.

Rudy

Domain Authority is a search engine ranking score developed by MOZ and used by others to predict how likely a website is to rank in search engine result pages (SERPs).

I have read good/ bad about it and have decided it's not for me. I stick with WA and the tools here, but that is just my two cents worth.

I would suggest checking out MOZ, seeing what they have and how much it costs, and going from there - pretty expensive IMO.

Thanks, Digger.

Yep, we need to use what works for us!

Rudy

Exactly !

Hi, Rudy

I use Moz to check DA and Ahrefs to check DR (basically backlinks), both free versions.

Frank 🤘🎸

Yeah, Ahrefs as well. Glad to hear about the free version!

Rudy

I use Moz, its free

Thanks, Brenda!

Rudy

Good call :)

Yes. I agree. 😀

This came up while researching, but i don't recall where i discovered how to find my DKIM/ Anyone know 'For Sure? If not, i'll just contact Site Support.

Thanks,

i just ran into this..

Great information, but this only is available for someone to do if they are not hosting here and have access to a Cpanel.

For DKIM and DMARC to be activated it can only be done by site support as members do not have access to a Cpanel.

:-) thank you I thought I ran into a good one lol

You may find what you are looking for using the search option. Click on the magnifying glass in the upper right menu, which opens the search bar, and then type in DKIM. This will bring up a list of information about DKIM.

I hope this helps.

Nancy

Since members so not have access to a Cpanel DKIM and DMARC have to be activated by Site Support.

DKIM - DomainKeys Identified Mail - this you would need to contact support for.

Yeah, already did. Thanks. They asked me to provide the DKIM for my domain, and I inquired with them again.

Thanks,

Rudy

DKIM is a digital signature attached to each email, it's another layer of security. If you are hosting here and using email for your sites here Site support can add DKIM at your request.

I would think in the future (if they haven't already) this will be auto-configured.

You may also want to ask them to set up DMARC as well. Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting, and Conformance

Right, and that's why they asked for my domain...

My wondering mind said 'why not do the all!' grin.

Rudy

Not sure how site support does this but you may need to send in separate requests for each website. I say that because when you send in a support ticket you're asked to identify your domain

Makes sense....I will do that.

Thanks!

Rudy

I just read an article that helped me better understand how WA is providing email security and I thought you would like to know about it as well.

The article is from Carson and there are two ways to validate email.

- SPF (Sender Policy Framework)
- DKIM (DomainKeys Identified Mail)

WA uses SPF (Sender Policy Framework).

So as long as SPF OR DKIM passes, then your email will be deemed "safe".

Here's the article:

Thanks, I'll take a look!

For anyone who uses AWeber, the automatically set it up for the sign-up widget!

Rudy

Since Aweber uses DKIM you will need to have site support add the new DNS records to your domain.

You can find the records that need to be added in the "Domains and Addresses" page found under your account settings in Aweber.

And once added and after things have been updated you can then verify things on that same page.

Yes, Im aware. Thanks!
