When to hold them, and when to fold them
I'm a slow learner.
Don't get me wrong, I understand, comprehend, and take action, yet for the information to really sink in, that process is very slow.
No matter what you think you know, the direction you follow may not be the next best thing, until you really understand the point of it all.
One of the most common tips heard here is to follow the training, and take your time. Rome wasn't built in a day! It takes time to build up your blog archive, which is one of the most important parts of your website, the content.
We get all caught up in ranking, making pretty websites, and grabbing the next shiny thing that sounds good because we are looking for help.
However, when that help come from too many people, even when we do the research, yet, we may add that to are arsenal of email auto-responders, contact forms, image optimizers,SEO, etc...
Then you start looking for affiliates, boy or boy, that was an Achilles heel for me. I have a number of usable affiliates, usually am affiliated with the products I own, auto-responder, page-builder, theme, video maker, etc.
After a while, your ships starts to leak, and you have to find the leak before you capsize.
I found the leaks...
Therefore, it's time to 'fold em'.
I'm spread too thin, and I'm removing all of the products except for the ones I actually use. Same with the affiliate products, if not using it, will close the account.
This house cleaning all began yesterday when I started to organize a stack of papers. I'm condensing my files and transferring them to a different file cabinet. No sense moving without gleaning, or what would be the point, eh?
Regarding my websites, specifically, my make money online one, I'm changing gears. That one I will revamp or move to a new domain name, not sure how I will proceed, yet it is on the back burner.
I have an old website, first created using WP 2010 theme...grin. It's an evergreen niche, and I still have the content that I shlepped around from computer to computer.
My plan is to follow the OEC training PAST level 4, and see what happens.
We can't always be right the first time, and even if it takes a few times before you finally succeed, in whatever you do, then your efforts are worth it, they are of value, and you need to be happy with yourself that you learned something.
Our dreams can become reality if we put forth the effort.
Then you will trust yourself to know whether to hold them, or fold them.

I almost could have written this myself! Except my file cabinet is in the dining room because there was no room for it in the office I share with my hubby.
-- Lol....I have a small file cabinet with two drawers and one file drawer....packed to the gills.
Fortunately, I have room for the 4 drawer file cabinet, except that I had to find places for the stuff I stuck in two of the drawers...
Next step is to transfer the file folders and create new ones for the current stuff.

The MOST IMPORTANT lesson you can get from all these experiences, is the acquired knowledge that now you have , that you never had known before!!!
You tried, held them, as you see your cards, then decide to fold them.
That's CLEVER!!! We all go through the same phase!!!!
What is important is KNOWING when to hold them.....and when to fold them!!

Many of us - those who are honest with ourselves - go through this.

Sometimes we just need to tell ourselves the truth; what's working and what's not.
Then, move on from there.
…..and know when to walk away. So this sounds like that is what you are doing. Its never too late to learn something new.

Good for you for having the courage to revamp your work to something you feel will be more worthwhile. I'm coming to the same conclusion...that I must choose which things to follow and leave the rest, because I do not have time to do it all. Lead the way, Rudy!
