The Finer Things in Life

A friend is visiting for the weekend, and they wanted to see some Christmas lights. And that was what we did.

There is something special and magical when you look at your neighbor's lighting displays, along the road while driving, and best of all, the specific areas and neighborhoods that are well-known for going all-out when lighting up their yards at Christmastime.

The place we went to is such a place that, three years ago, after a heavy snowfall, I drove a limo full of people to this 'Lights of Christmas'. This was at a time where they got out and walked the 1/2 mile perimeter, the site was beautiful, with snow on the ground, you really got caught up in the spirit of things...Me? I stayed warm in the limo...grin.

This year was a little different.

We bought a ticket online, (haha, QR Code sent in an email to show proof of purchase) for a drive-through vs a walk-through. No snow, yet it was cold, about 33 deg F, and we rolled down the windows to take pictures, then rolled them back up.

These are in no particular order, however, there was a point when we first came through that the traffic was not moving AT ALL. Reminded me of an event where the line is long, and they provide things to look at so you don't realize the time has passed and you've only moved ten feet...grin.

Like this. Decorated lanes to marvel while waiting to move forward.

The delay was a merge from the snack shop back into the convoy of passenger cars, lights dimmed like they would as you drove into the Drive-In parking area, once you paid the entry.

It was so cold, there wasn't enough helium in the world to off the ground in these balloons!

This sailing ship was spectacular! The number of lights used was probably in the thousands, not unlike the flower petals used on a Rose Parade Float.

These images were shot with my cell phone camera and came out much better than I thought they might, cell phone cameras don't fare well in the dark. We listened to Christmas music through a designated radio station, which made the drive pleasurable.

I hope you enjoyed the ride.

Just beautiful, Rudy!
Thanks for this lovely trip!
Last year I was going to function, and running late. Late became later, as it was on THE Christmas Lights Street!
No choice but to sit back and enjoy this pleasant interruption.
Thanks for sharing! Not a bit chilly, here in my livingroom! LOL

Jeff

Thanks, Jeff!

I had fun once the cars started moving..grin. if course, that meant I was stopping to take the pics, fortunately that didn't affect the person behind me...

Snow isn't expected until after the new year, but it sure was cold!

Rudy

You're welcome, Rudy!

I'll bet it was cold, but still some beautiful sites!

Jeff

I love the huge tree all lit up. They are all beautiful pictures, thanks for sharing.

We have a park here that decorates every year for a drive-through display. I will try to get some pictures to share when we go. It's very rare for us to get a white Christmas here, but I think Christmas lights are beautiful always. 🌟

Awesome, hope you go, it is a fun way to admire the work of others, too. We were trying to figure the time spent hanging all of those lights...let alone the removal...

Vast appreciation for anyone who decorates to such a lavish display!

Rudy

Nice pictures of some great displays of festive lights. Thanks for sharing.
