November is Gratitude Month
Your first thought was probably of the American holiday in November, Thanksgiving, when you saw the word Gratitude. Huge meal gatherings, being grateful just comes with the territory.
Next Thursday, November 24th, is Thanksgiving in the US.
There are other ways to consider Gratitude, or being grateful.
Some of us here learn about Gratitude in recovery from alcohol/drug abuse. Gratitude is a common 12-step meeting topic during the month of November, and a recent posting on the main feed here reminded me...and for all of you other 'meetings' folks, I can hear the grumblings and groans from all of the November meetings where the topic was Gratitude.
Now don't get me wrong, it is important to be grateful on so many levels, but sometimes, you went to a meeting to share something other than being grateful. Although, leaving the gratitude meeting did bring some clarity, and you ended feeling better.
Gratitude can be demonstrated in so many different ways.
By being grateful for having a roof over my head, food to eat, clothes to wear.
To show gratitude to someone by offering to do something for them.
Write a letter of thanks to someone who has helped you.
Treat people with kindness. You will get kindness in return.
What are you grateful for today?
I used to trip on answering that question, because it required an inner look at myself, something that I didn't like to do. That has since changed, however, slowly, grin, I'm at peace with myself to day.
And that is something I'm grateful for.

Hi Rudy, I am grateful for many things such as having that roof over my head because there was a time we didn't have that proverbial roof. What I mean is that we were sleeping in the car and that is not a good feeling because it is just plainly not safe anymore.
And at that time we didn't have food to eat either. And that my friend going to sleep hungry is not fun either. My husband and I have had a bad time of it. I believe that it will come to an end soon. I will say this though God has been with us every step of the way.
So you understand why I am grateful for many things this year.

Hi Rudy, Yes that is the thing is keeping a sane mind during all this chaos but that is where my faith comes into play. I depend on my faith because beside that I have hope and that is got to account for something.

What am I grateful for today? Well, mainly that I'm getting caught up in here and on my emails in general. I'm always grateful for my husband and my two dogs, and I tell all three of them that every day. Do the dogs understand English? Maybe... I tell them anyway!
Dogs understand in ways we will never get. It all works out though, huh!
