I Think, Therefore I Am-NOT!
Before I get started, I wanted to mention that this image in my header appeared in the browser image section when I looked up my writing online...my written stuff was on page two...
Anyway, I was looking up a recipe online, organic teriyaki sauce, and I found a website whose content showed me something about my own writing... I wanted my writing to look like theirs when my blogs grew up...
No, seriously, well that was serious...what I wanted to write here was this:
When I think about what I want to write, I struggle. The word come out in a rush in a 'me first' display and the draft is unfinished.
When I FEEL, the words flow about almost any topic.
My forte is answering questions and I started that trek on Quora 6 months ago, where I have had over 15k views, over 100 upvotes and numerous shares.
I am the answer man. I can find an answer for just about anything, if I don't already know the topic myself.
Now granted, we are not talking about master level, I am talking about what some folks may call trivial, but hey, we are looking for solutions, and 'the facts' don't always bring us closer.
When I get questions asked in my email feed, if I know something about the subject, I will answer. What I found was my answer for a simple, 'How do I remove acrylic paint' turned into a 350+ word answer. And I realized that while answering that question last night.
So, this morning when I read this recipe page, I finally saw how I can convey a message without being so damned technical.
I was amazed at the way I felt while reading the blog; this was something I had not ever really felt before.
And that's what I wanted to share...
Oh, BTW, initially, the reason I began this blog was to say:
When I think, I struggle...when I feel, the words flow...
Something has shifted and I look forward to what is ahead.

Very interesting, Rudy. As an aspiring novelist, when I read I often have a highlighter to hand, to mark sentences or paragraphs that especially please me or move me; hoping I guess that by acknowledging an excellent piece of writing, I’ll learn from it.
Did you hear about the court case involving Jilly Cooper? She had typed out a piece of writing she admired, a few paragraphs I think, meaning to study it sometime. Then years later she came across it in her papers and thought it was her own writing. She incorporated it into one of her novels and was taken to court!
I’d be really interested to know what impressed you so much; can you post a sample please? Or a link, is that allowed?
Good luck with your new writing style.
Thanks.
I once wrote the words to an original song and gave it to a friend of my mine who played guitar. A few months later, I was rummaging through the sings to pick one out for them to play. The words were profound.
I asked who wrote it, and they were shocked. 'Don't you remember? ' they asked me.
I said did no, I didn't.
The song was written by me.
When Limewire was king, before Napster, p2p music share was all the rage. A crackdown began by the powers that be, and a young girl, not even twenty years old, was the scapegoat who was charged with stealing $1000s worth of music. Never really heard anything final, just that she was taken to court and charged.
We all find our own way, and what means one thing to one person, may not have the same affect for another person.
What I can tell you is put away the highlight pen, if you read something that hits your heart, you won't need to highlight, it will stay will you forever.
Change the routine you follow automatically. Even for one day.
Start the next day differently and you will learn and see things in a new way.
