Another thought Regarding Vision Boards
This initially began as a reply to a post about vision boards by @Cstewart890.....
The more I wrote in my reply, I realized that I had more to say. I don't know if there is any post answering etiquette, but I try to keep my replies short and to the point, and not take away from the original post by stating my opinion.
And here it is:
If you believe in the 'out of sight, out of mind' and 'seeing is believing' philosophies, then a vision board may work for you.
The vision board represents the life you already have, and you've simply misplaced your keys. Your goal is to locate the missing keys to start your journey towards you 'vision board'.
Yes, the vision board is meant to not only envision how you want your life to be, it is also existential, or affirming the existence of the life you want.
Some of us can make a list and complete the tasks.
Some of us need to a visual cue.
The goal is to succeed. Here is what separates those who succeed, and the ones who remain frustrated - you must believe that you are worthy to receive those goals.
Wayne's World comes to mind, here...("I'm not worthy").
However, not feeling good enough is no laughing matter.
If you feel less than, you will become frustrated because your goals seem to slip between your fingers when you get close enough to touch them.
If your pathway is blocked with negatives like low self-esteem, lack of confidence, feelings of not being worthy, you will not get what you truly want. Vision board or not.
Like any path we travel, we face certain obstacles. We have to remove those obstacles to get through, or get past those blocks. Once we do, the light becomes brighter, we can see opportunities and start to believe that we in fact can do this.
Positive thoughts are not going to move that stuff out if the way...you first need to remove the obstacle.
That is the missing part about the Law of Attraction.
Yes, positive attracts positive, and negative attracts negative. That is a given.
Yet, for all of the positive thoughts and feelings and positive energy you might be able to muster, none of the positive will do anything to negative energy.
Period.
The only way to remove the negatives in your life is to address the reasons why they are negative. The Law of attraction is absolute - The information provided in 'The Secret', is misleading you to think that all you have to do is think positively In some cases, that is accurate.
However, you must address the negative, and remove the negative aspect before you can begin to think more positively. One way to do this, is to neutralize the negativity - to disarm the magnetic nature of thought.
That is where the true work begins.
Start by learning why you feel less confident, or not worthy, or any action or feeling that you are most critical about. Identify the thought, and dispel the negative energy.
When you can remove the negative aspect to a thought or feeling or a belief, you will be able to see the true nature of that thought, feeling and/or belief.
When I lived in Southern California, there was a period where I had such road rage. A 'get out of my way or else' mentality. I was new with learning how to neutralizing, and decided to use the process. I took a look at why I was so angry on the road.
What discovered was that I had trimmed off so much time in my 2- minute commute, that I had no time to spare for any accidents, road construction, etc.
Immediately, I began a new routine. I began my commute an extra 20-30 minutes early, which then gifted me when I arrived in plenty of time for work. Instead of racing around slower drivers, etc, I was casually 'taking my time' and had a much better attitude.
This new attitude made a difference in my job. In fact, that one simple decision created a new, more positive direction for me. I became more aware of my life's perception.
There is a saying, coined by a few well-known out there, but I first heard it from 'Kevin Trudeau'.
You don't know what you don't know. Profound, right?...But until you become aware, you have no idea.
Consider buying a new car. You research for the best model, taking into account cost, gas mileage, perks, warranty, etc. Satisfied with your inquiries, you go to the dealer, select the make, model and color, and drive away.
What do you see?
You see your car on the road. The exact make, model and color.
Coincidence?
No. You were simply made more aware of the existence of that particular vehicle.
Stay with me here, I'm about to circle back...
We all have negative aspects in our lives, some are self-critical. Some are patterns of how we learned through our childhood. Some patterns are so ingrained, that we don't even know how they came to be, yet, we continue to follow them. Our thoughts, patterns, habits and beliefs are full of both positive and negative energy.
There is no one right way to fix the negative, and I only know of one way where the method actually works. That said, you can search online for ways to remove the negativity, and one of those will possibly work for you.
But you have to be willing to see the need for improvement. Or, you will stay stuck where you are at, and not liking life very much.
AND, That is what is good about the use of vision boards.Once you have a clear picture of what you truly want, not an impulsive decision, but a well thought out one, the vision board with help you to realize this goal.
I do want to mention that there was a book I became aware of in the 70s that was very instrumental at the time. Shakti Gawain wrote an excellent book called: "Creative Visualization:Use the Power of Your Imagination to Create What You Want in Your Life".
This book opened up my view to a world that I had no idea even existed.
You don't know, what you don't know.
If after reading this post you are interested in learning how to Neutralize, let me know and I will share details with you privately.

Very well thought out and said, Rudy! But as I mentioned in the earlier post, I can see where I want to be in my mind's eye! The vision is always there!
Jeff
Of course the vision is there, Jeff. You can see it, you can realize it.
The question is, how long before you achieve it?
What is standing in your way for your 'vision' to become a reality?
Granted, we cannot predict an actual date, per se, unless that has already been determined, which becomes an expectation.
I'm talking about the reality of that vision, what steps are needed for it to come to fruition?
Rudy
As long as it takes, Rudy! I am in no big hurry! Slowly but surely, I am making strides towards my goals, but I don't allow them to consume me and be the "be all and all". Ultimately, whatever I achieve will be by the Will of God, my friend!

Neutralizing has sparked my interest, and I see how it could be beneficial.
I don't know much about psychology, but I have noticed throughout life that people will normally dwell on the negative side of a situation, rather than the positive side.
I read this somewhere; I can't remember where, and I'm sure this is not verbatim, but I cannot take credit for it:
"The pessimist and the optimist may wind up with the same outcome, but the optimist will have a better time getting there."
I try to remember that, as I am usually the one to worry. I am for anything that will neutralize the negativity.
The actual steps of neutralizing are simple. With practice, you only need to take a few minutes to process the issue, before the negativity becomes 'neutral', and no longer affects your thoughts, habits or beliefs.
I think I sent you (and a few others) the link to the book about Neutralizing. Chapter ten is where you will find the steps to conduct the neutralizing process.
That is a great quote, too. How you get there is important.
That may depend on your personal belief system about life, about relationships, and about making money.
About a year into Neutralizing, I grabbed my coveted coffee cup, one that had special meaning for me. I dropped it and it broke into pieces. What was different was my reaction. Instead of freaking out, and going all postal about breaking the mug, and placing so much significance on a material item, I looked at the broken pieces and said, aww, that's too bad, I really liked that cup. That was it.
I didn't drag it out, carry the emotions behind the loss, I didn't get angry because I dropped it...nope, it was a simple fact that the cup fell and broke. End of story.
Such an inspirational post Rudy. Thank you for the reminder that in order for me to go forward, I need to remove the obstacle first. Thank you
You're welcome!
And yes, recognize the obstacle, then figure out the steps you need to take to remove that obstacle.
How you feel will be something to pay attention to when you remove those blocks.
I wish you continued success with moving forward.

So inspiring! I am interested in the process!
Thank you for sharing.
Lots of love,
Shahlla
You're welcome! I'm glad you see this as inspiring.
The process is very simple. Only 7 or 8 steps for rhe actual process. Yet, without knowing anything more than those few steps is like watching a foreign movie without subtitles. You get the gist of it,, yet,, don't get the full understanding.
For WA members, I freely offer a link for the book that includes the neutralizing process.
If interested, send me a pm.
