Looking for some feedback. This one was hard to write. I've read and reread it too many times. I'll return the favor if you give me the link to something you need read.

Very good!

.Well written. Nice work!

Always go with Kyle's opinion! For mine - your website posts are incredibly well written. I read them with great interest. Then I noticed all the adds and began thinking, maybe they are just trying to sell me something
So I suppose I am trying to say, build up a following before you blast them with ads. Don't forget to let them sign up for future blogs. I love your writing style!
I did not see privacy policy or disclaimer policy, you may not be at that point yet, just an observation.
Left ya a message.

It looks good Beth, but instead of linking to a training piece within WA, you are going to have much more luck and get more conversions if you link to your WA review as well within the post. This way you are giving people a concise action.

Also, your URL plugin should be the same as your blog title:

Personalize your blog = http://buildingabetterblog.com/personalize-your-blog

This can be edited within your post editor.

Overall though you are off and running here Beth, nicely done!

Excellent! I can tell you put in a lot of long hours and hard work to complete this site, and it shows! It's laid out well, has PLENTY of quality content, and you've utilized images perfectly. The only thing that you might consider, and this is very minimal, is to try and get the menu in one line. For instance, move some of the pages to subcategories, Kyle had suggested this, but like I said, it's totally your preference. Overall, you've done a super job putting it together! Great work honey!

Sorry.

I'm not ranked yet, but I've developed a decent site fast because I have experience in blogging.

It seems to me that the more traffic you have before you rank, you will in

Do you have google analytics and landing pages setup?

Then I would not waste money on PPC until you do.

With tracking you can tell what's working and what's not.

Great response by Jim below!

I see you have received your answer --Great I agree with the Tecthound -- The hound nose knows--LOL hope it all works out-- I will say that if you go to youtube --search for how to rank and look for the google webmaster video on it they will be the best

Hey Beth,

People do use PPC to test out campaigns. As for rankings, they are not organic results so I am not sure you will get the kind of push you speak of from that particular perspective. But as with anything in this business it's all about testing. If it works for you then that is the answer!

My suggestion if you decide to move forward with PPC for your campaign is to go through Kyle's training on the subject and make sure that you understand everything about it (ask questions if you don't). Especially pay attention to the parts that talk about relevancy.

Also, you want to track your campaign by setting up objectives so you can see which keywords are not only bringing you traffic but which ones are actually meeting your objectives. An objective in the PPC world is something like opt ins or sales conversions, some kind of measure that you feel makes the campaign a success. If you are getting a lot of traffic but no objectives are being met, this is an indication of non targeted traffic.

Carl (@Rizzer) brings up some excellent points as well and you should take care of that Amazon disclosure situation to prevent getting banned from them. If you are going to use Google's Adwords I believe that you will need to remove any Adsense, at least to the pages that you are including in your Adwords. But double check their TOS to be sure.

Best Regards,
Jim

I'm going to deactivate AdWords. It was something I was testing. I hadn't thought that the traffic I was getting wasn't organic. Just looking at additional ways to speed up the ranking process. Using Google AdWords to get just a little traffic just made sense before getting feedback.

Thanks!

I never place any ads on my pages - unless the purpose of the page was to get people to hit that ad.
My own opinion.

Stress less though, keep making sites in different niches, let them grow, more good content, more good content, ... and other things as you already also know.
You are on the way up!!!!

Sorry, my sentence got cut off. Post on Google+ and other social networks, but be careful because Google+ has some strict rules. Your ranking will go up with good content.

Hey Beth I would leverage your finances else where. PPC is very expensive for what you get in return. You really need to know what you are doing in terms of creating a successful campaign that converts. When I first started out I used this method and lost $200 in a single day and one conversion with a $2 commission.

No point in aiming to get traffic for the sake of ranking and having to pay for it. Use the free methods like Blogging with Low Competition keywords, joining forums about babies and moms and responding with your signature (URL - not as a link as some forums don't allow links).

Also Jay did a great video on using vimeo and how to rank better using this strategy. You tube as well - doing a video and linking this to your website. I did this before got 4000 hits per month all because I linked it with a keyword back to my website

Colin

I haven't spent much.....I was lured in by the "spend $25, get $75 free" Google ad.

After seeing responses, I'm going to deactivate my ads and save the rest of my promotion money for another time.

I haven't tried PPc yet. I want to get the basic foundation down first. I do know that if you keep adding good content and post to Google+, eventually your 4

Not sure how you plan to get traffic from PPC. The PPC I ran was through a service (Traffic Vance) which you pay in advance to show your ads to people who have agreed to receive them. The customer is sent directly to the affiliate link and therefore you do not get traffic to your site, unless you set up a squeeze page.
Is there something about PPC I am unaware of. Please share if there is!

PPC can be a very wasteful and costly exercise if you don't have a firm grasp on what your doing and has very little to do with ranking other than gaining natural back links to your website.

If your looking at paying for traffic please take the time to investigate the process properly.

As for ranking, just had a look at your site and I cannot see any interlinking between posts/pages at all. A link between relevant pieces of content will boost your site and make it easier for search engines to crawl it.

Also I see no disclaimer that your an Amazon affiliate on your site meaning you are currently breaking their terms and conditions. Please read and take action on point 10 in the operating agreement https://affiliate-program.amazon.com/gp/associates/agreement/

Have a great day

Thanks! I have been a little lax on my internal links, I only have a few. I have to work on that today. Thanks for the Amazon advice!

Where do you put it? Can I put it in my privacy policy?

yes privacy policy is fine

Me again.... Is there a science to interlinking. How many links per post/page is optimal? Thanks.... Again!

At the end of the day - content is still king in my books.
Good blogs = happy readers = repeat visits = sales.

Don't forget to update your Analytics link. I forgot to do this and wondered all day why I wasn't getting data.

I'm just a data person, Kinda irritated at myself.

I have a child theme and load a ga.js file with the code in it. This is a must for any serious developer

Haven't reached that point yet.... I will soon. Thanks for the advice/info Wayne!

Didn't even know what a child theme was yet. I'm starting to figure it out. I have training bookmarked for next week,

it's easy and super useful

A great reminder!

Reeeeeeally? This is good to know! Makes sense I guess. That would drive me crazy too! Glad you figured it out. :o)
~Amanda

Thank you for that reminder. I am sure this happens fairly often with all the new people we have coming in. It is the small things that can drive you crazy!

Which do you have? I see a lot of Affiliate websites and not as many niche websites. If you have a niche did you find it hard to monetize? If you have both. Which brings in

Hi, my two cents ;-) I couldn't decide on a niche and am a tech-idoit so I decided to do build a WA site as I go through the lessons and learn ( Getting started lessons first, then I will do the bootcamp) IMO it makes sense if you can't decide on a niche :-)

Whatever you decide you will get a lot of hands on education in the first one!

Hey 1MR.. I am in the process of building both. I see the potential in both. Kyle would say concentrate on one thing first then start the other. I don't believe there is any right or wrong answer. However, I see the potential to game more financially and quicker by using the Bootcamp. The other site you can use to slowly build your business and take the time to make it great! Well, take the time to make them both great!

This is where I am also. I am very new to the whole website thing so I thought I could learn more and bring in an income quicker by doing the bootcamp first then building my website as I learn how to promote the first one. It just made sense to me to do it this way. I love helping people and I know how hard and how long it was for me to find this special kind of place. So I know I could really go far in just promoting the WA site. I'm not looking for any get rich quick scheme, I just need to earn an income as quick as I possibly can. I plan on working really hard on learning as much as I possibly can so this next year will be the turning year for my future to be more stable than it has been the past 3 years. I'm tired of killing myself to help someone else's dreams come to pass. I want to work like that for me to make my life better. I know I am in the right place to make this happen.
Good Luck and best of wishes to you!
Merry Christmas
Patty

Jaweda2k took the words right out of my mouth!

I only have a niche website, and I find it difficult to have a valuable number of visitors. But it is still early times. I think it will get a few months to have things rolling.

It seems like with an affiliate site, you can earn income faster. I see lots with income declarations after a few weeks. that awesome! I think it might take niche sites a little longer.

Don't get me wrong. I know it takes hard work, time and patience which I have plenty of... I am looking to have this as a full time thing.

Hoping to monetize before I get a good job offer! LOL! Erk. Unemployment sinks.

Girl you are so talking the truth about unemployment. I live in a tourist town so we have seasonal unemployment here. That really does suck. It is so hard to plan anything for long term when you know your income wont be. This is why I am here too. I want to make the money I make in the warm season, full time, online at home. I am really new to the homebased business thing and I have been on the search for something like this for to many years to mention. lol That's why I figured if I started to affiliate thing first and learn from that then my other passion will be easier for me to learn how to make money from it. I love helping people and that is my passion. My other love is to help animals. Mainly pets. My goal is to have a farm to be able to take in pets that need a home and to help people find the pet that matches their family.
I don't think there is a wrong or right answer to which one is the way to go, but I do think it is a preference on where you want to go and what you are looking to achieve. I don't know if this helps you but I would love to hear of your progress as you go along.
I know you will achieve everything you go for! You are a hard worker and that is all it takes, is hard work and dedication. With that and the right motives in your heart you can't go wrong.
God bless,
Patty

OK so it seems like perhaps many people started out niche and went (added) WA

I started with am niche based site first. Went with something that I am passionate about which for me made it a lot easier to generate content as I was learning. A couple months in then I started my second site promoting WA as I didn't want to do that until that I saw the system actually worked.

I have an affiliate website my niche was very easy for me as fishing is my passion but it is new and have not made a penny yet but the money will come.

I have a niche website at dailylawofattraction.com, but I plan on either integrating WA affiliate, or getting a second page for WA as a niche. Making money online is a niche. It's huge. Blogging and the monetization of a blog is also a good way. I don't know if this helps, but I think you can do both in one website, if done right.

It does help. I've been thinking of adding a WA site as well. I do have an affiliate page on my niche website. Kind of like a "how are you doing this?" I have been wondering if I should create that second WA site.

Is there anyway we can check our overall rank history. I remember starting out in the thousands and I would like to see where I started and how fast and when I made progress. I k

I've been logging each day on a calendar....

That's why I kept a journal, it's a little late but you can start now. My journal is here https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/wayne-wallace/blog/my-wa-diary#

when the graphs show up click on the arrows in the top right corner of the graph and it gives you dates.

Well, when you look at your profile pic in the bar, you will see the number of your ranking left of it. When you hit this button, you will see the graphics and where you can improve.....if its motivating you, then use it...:-)..but its always a ranking compared with the activity of all other members. You don´t have the full control over it. There will be a day, that other members are more active than you and your ranking drops....:-)...happens to all of us. Have a fine day - Janine
