There is a misconception that it takes 10 years and 10,000 hours to become an expert at something. The reality is that it does not, and within the online world you can become an expert with efficiency.

And guess what? Learning from other experts can shortcut your path drastically do expertise, and your ability to teach someone something new and that they don't already know, they will perceive you as the expert.

So don't view being an expert as something that is unattainable, and something that cannot be achieved within your first year online...even within a niche you don't know a great deal about when starting out.

So get out there and become an expert! I would love your feedback on where you are currently at within the expert ladder in your current niche...and whether you are speeding up your path to expertise by learning from other experts in your niche.

I have learned a lot by listening to the many experts in the WA community. While I may be an expert in my current niche (but always still striving to learn more), I still have much to learn in the affiliate marketing arena. So I appreciate what WA offers with the certification classes, and training opportunities, as well as being able to hear from and interact with community experts.

Thanks, Kyle! :)

Hey Kyle!

I have been listening to Grant Cardone's Unbreakable business challenge over the last few days. What are your thoughts on his system? I ask because after listening and being bombarded with BUY BUY BUY these past few days, I'm starting to believe that I can achieve the same thing right here within WA. I am just curious what you think about other programs like this. Thanks!

Well if they are telling you to BUY BUY BUY it means that they are more focused on selling you something than offering value. That is a high pressured sales system and that is an old school way of marketing.

Do you need this, no. Save your money, you have everything you need here to create and grow a business online. :)

I appreciate the feedback. It almost feels like one of those old-school, snake-oil salesman that is bombarding you. They are disguising offering you value, but in reality it's a money grab, at least that's how it's made me feel.

Love this! I agree. You do not need 10.000 hours.
You do not have to be an expert to help people online.
As a new Affiliate marketer we go through a learning process.
For some people it takes longer time than others.
By helping others with what you know you slowly become an authority and an expert.

Yeah, the 10,000 hours was "pre internet' thinking, and certainly I can help someone and be viewed the expert if I am producing great content...and I could learn about that concept and create content around it in the very same day.

But the broader "expert" status is established as you gain more and more of an audience and traction within a niche. That can help more efficiently than ever within the online world.

Good morning Kyle,

Thank you for your blog post/video, an interesting one! It does amaze me how quickly we can learn new techniques and tasks when we are taught correctly.

When I first started researching about making money online, it took me three years to put my first moneymaking website up! This was due to the fact that a lot of things that I was reading about were not 100% true or accurate. I believe what took me three years to learn could have probably been learnt in 4 to 6 weeks at Wealthy Affiliate.

I was just working and learning totally blind as I just didn't know what was true, what principles worked etc. It's not a good place to be. That's why I always suggest to people to get trained properly and to have the guesswork removed; it's much more efficient that way!

Have a great weekend.

Roy

That is definitely the case, there is a lot of situations where it is the blind leading the blind within certain industries which can actually prolong your path to expertise and success within that niche.

So you nailed it when you said that something that could take 3 years to really have a great understanding with in one place, can be accomplished within 3 weeks somewhere else.

The key is following people that you know are credible and are willing to share value in an ongoing basis and that is our broader goal here within the platform at WA.

I hope you had a wonderful week!

Good morning Kyle,

Thank you for your reply, it's appreciated. I know that you are a busy man and that you have been in Las Vegas, I trust that all went well.

I don't know if the Internet marketing trade still has a lot of spammers or people giving false or partial information. It certainly did when I was starting out! It was difficult as I really saw the power and potential of the Internet, but I didn't even know was credible and not credible! It probably does, but I know how to spot it now.

Recently someone contacted me through LinkedIn, we ended up having a telephone call and then a zoom call; his Webmaster also came on the zoom call. He was telling me that he is looking to start affiliate marketing as a bolt-on for his successful service website. He said he had filled in many forms to try and find out information, but all he was getting was watch this video, watch that video and then upgrade etc. etc. etc.! I directed him to Wealthy Affiliate, his Webmaster has now opened a free account at Wealthy Affiliate.

I'm not sure how much we are supposed to do for free, but I gave him a terrific amount of free information on the zoom call. He literally said that I was the only person who has given him straightforward information. I'm not trying to puff myself up, but it seems like it's a bit like that in the online world!

It is certainly wonderful to have and to be part of a platform we can trust! Thank you.

Have a great day.

Roy

Thanks Kyle. A lot of other things can hinder one's progress; moreover people are motivated differently. And we all know that some move faster than others; a student can out ran his coach in some aspects. There are also several ways of doing the same things. Sometimes one may choose a slower path because of maybe preference. So yea some paths to expertise maybe longer than others.

You are absolutely right, we all move at a different pace and that is fine. Consistency in that case is what will be the determining factor of success. ;)
